C6 Z06 vs C7 base auto

Today I took my Z06 in to get a quote on trading in on 2019 2LT. Gonna be crunching #s to see if we can work out a deal. Kind of reluctant as I like the C6 better for looks, and the Z06 is awesome with 488 hp at rear wheels.I like the 6 speed but thinking the auto will make it easier for my wife to drive, if necessary.Im just saying pros and cons and interested if anyone here has made a similar jump? Its probably not going to work out but time will tell.Looking for opinions, thinking that the wife can drive it in eco mode if needed and the Z06 she is deathly afraid to get in unless its just around town.

Even though you're losing some horsepower, the A8 in the C7 shifts so quickly that it makes up a little bit of that difference. I'm constantly impressed with the acceleration of my base model C7, and my best 0-60 according to the onboard timer is 3.8 seconds. A lot of guys with the base C7 auto have reported quarter mile times around 11.5, so that actually puts it very close in performance to a C6Z.

I went from a C6 Z06 to a C7 Z51. There is a few differences the stood out for me. The C6 felt more like a race car. It is a beast! More powerful, better sound better braking, suspension and ride a lot stiffer, It felt lower to the ground.

The C7 when I first took it on the open road I was hitting the rev limiter from 1st gear to 3rd as I was use to the higher revving LS7. The power didn’t feel close to the C6. Key word is FEEL only because the ride on the C7 is way more smother. With the different ride modes and technology all around especially on the traction control, to me it’s a more of a tame C6Z.

There are way more pros than cons going from a C6 to a C7. My biggest con on the C7 was the braking system but that was expected because I was used to the ceramic braking on the Z06.

Having both a 427 Convertible & a ‘16 Z-51 I have some thoughts on your subject. First as mentioned above they are two different cars, which is not a bad thing. The C-7 is more “refined” if you will with its choice of handling modes & upgraded connectivity. I have the A8 & like it very much. If you get one purchase the Range AFM defeat plug-in. The only problem I see is if the wife starts driving it you will have to find another DD as she will be in it all the time!

So, what did you end up doing? Did you buy the C7?

keeping in mind, the C7 autos, have diff and torque convert issues. Still

All depends what your looking for. I personally think a C6 has nicer lines then a C7. This is all a matter of opinion but GM didnt do a nice job on the rear of the C7. Also C6 Z06 pulls much harder then a C7 Stingray. If two cars were to line up at a said speed the LS7 would pull on the LT1. Its much lighter and has more power!

Manual trans are much more enjoyable to drive and adds to the driving experince. Soon these cars will be driving themselves so I will take a manual trans any day of the week. Who cares if an auto is .20 quicker to 60 mph.

Too each there own but I have zero interest in an automatic Corvette at this time in my life. I still want to be engaged when driving these cars.
