Fan belt help

1974 L82 with a/c. Water pump # 330813 and pulley is # 3991424, Both are NOS and correct date. I cannot get belt from smog pump to water pump to reach, smog pump is correct with 6" pulley as is the water pump pulley. Belt is correct (Quanta 237B). Have even taken off smog pump pulley and tried putting belt on then sliding onto pump but still about 1" to short. Can't adjust anymore. Is there any different smog pump bracket? Car has all correct numbers and want to get it NCRS level.
What am I missing, any info appreciated. Thanks

Does this help?

Have you tried a longer belt?

Am going to try a GRAINGER INDUSTRIAL BELT # 3L340 which is 3/8x34. Am going to use,(if it works) temporary basis and going to look at other 1974 L82's to see if I am missing something. . Am almost 80 so it is very possible. Car has all correct numbers so not giving up. Thank you to all who replied. Will post whatever I come up with.

Just loosen the water pump pulley bolts (do not remove them). That will allow the pulley to tilt just enough to get the belt over it. Tighten the bolts back to torque and drive away happy.
:D

I sent you a PM (after reviewing the other thread you brought in "General"), but anyway, make sure you have the "add on" 3rd pulley in front.
