X-Pipe Decision

Planning to do a Halltech CAI + X-pipe on my 2019 Z06. Need recommendations between Corsa, Borla, and Billy Boat X-pipes. I'm more concerned with how they sound versus horsepower gains.

Deeper

I chose Borla because I wanted a deeper tone rather than raspier tone

me too with a bms filter that's all no other mods yet

I still have to find time to put the borla x-pipe on my car...

same.

plus it was proven to be lighter, gain slightly more power and easier install.

Borla here on my 17 M7. I suggest the BMS filter unless you upgrade the blower and tune. The stock intake is good to 620-630 rwhp.

HorsePowerObsessed 11-05-2018 11:43 AM

I have the Borla x-pipe due to being cheaper, lighter, gaining slightly more power, and having (in my opinion) a better sound. To me it was a no brainer. I also have the BMS air filter and SHOULD be getting it on the dyno next weekend to see what these things added power wise. I have a few videos on my YouTube page showing the sound of the Bora x-pipe if you're interested in hearing it.

Had the Borla X-Pipe before going with Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust. If only doing the X-Pipe, Borla is definitely the best option.

Uninstalled off road Borla x-pipe went back to stock. Sold it. Way to loud for me on my z06. Also neighbors complained.

This is why I installed the mild to wild switch. Very easy to quiet it down out of respect for the neighbors or on long highway cruises. I love mine.

None of these interfere with NPP right?

Connman 11-05-2018 12:40 PM

Borla here also, 2015 M7. X pipes do not interfere with NPP

MerakiAutoworks 11-05-2018 01:42 PM

We sell Borla like hotcakes.. Depending where you are.. If you're in CA, then can't do the Borla due to regulations.

I had Borla on my 15, now i want try the Corsa, a lot of folks are saying its sounds better than the Borla! As for the power both wouldnt be noticeable anyway!

BMadden 11-05-2018 03:06 PM

On the recommendation of a fellow forum member I tried this one out instead of Borla or Corsa and I couldn't be happier:

It's 304 Stainless, comes with all the hardware and fits perfectly. Here's a quick vid of the first time my tech at the dealership fired it up. You can hear me giggling like a little schoolgirl when he revs it up...the sound from my phone doesn't even begin to capture how awesome it sounds in person.

fitment was good!!?? Pretty cheap compared the borla or corsa!!

BMadden 11-05-2018 04:40 PM

The fitment was perfect....simple bolt on with no installation issues whatsoever. Like I said, another forum member recommended this to me after he put it on his car and he promised I wouldn't be disappointed so I decided to give it a shot. The minute my tech fired up the car I knew it was a good decision(and the look on his face in that clip says all you need to know). Honestly, it almost sounded like I'd put an aftermarket exhaust on the car and I definitely wasn't expecting that drastic of a difference from just changing x-pipes.

Mk3chris 11-05-2018 11:54 PM

If you are keeping the 2.75" factory exhaust you should rule out the 3" Billy Boat X-pipe. The abrubt transition from 3" to 2.75" would cause restriction and you'd lose a little power.

As far as Corsa vs Borla for sound the Corsa is more exotic sounding and the Borla is more traditional American muscle sounding. I personally went with the Borla because I feel the Corsa double crossover creates unnecessary turbulence and I want my Corvette to sound like a Corvette, not a European exotic. Plus the Borla is a high quality piece that is significantly cheaper than the Corsa.

...Unless you have a friend with a non-CA address that will forward it to you... :leaving:
(or so I've heard... I would never circumvent CA's ridiculously asinine EPA regulations):toetap::nono:
I got my Borla from Josh, and you won't beat the price or delivery times. I ordered on a Friday night, and I think it was delivered the following Wednesday.

MacRoadie 11-06-2018 01:42 PM

Summit will ship the x-pipe to a California address, after you acknowledge that you will be installing it on an off-road vehicle:
