i just want to take a second, and sincerely thank the majority of you in this thread right now... i have been on this forum for a while, and normally, everything I believe to be true is argued with up and down by "experts", and no one agrees with anything I say since I don't own a shop and/or the person believes they are telepathic enough to know how much money I have spent with forum vendors this year, or in my life, and since sometimes my ideas are not common place on this forum yet, they are always "wrong"
This thread has been like heaven the last couple days. Its good to see I'm not actually crazy, and my ideas and understanding of physics are somewhat accurate. This place has given me brain damage in the past.

https://www.magnaflow.com/products?partNumber=14419 Highly recommended, |
i figure ill keep the x pipe cats, and maybe add one of these on each side (if there is room, have to look closer, maybe not)
Norcal, Does the x pipe cat quiet it more or this piece swapped for the x pipe cat? Has anyone ever had you install/splice the muffler into your downpipe? |
Worst=$$$ Middle=$ Best= 0

attached pic of oem x pipe cats....they flow wayyyyy better than main cats. Much bigger passages
I have many customers that just do main cat deletes and keep oem x pipe. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...caf8673b78.jpg I have tested 3 X-pipes on my stock (except for an aftermarket CAI) Z06 and here are my results in order from worst to best as far as 1/4 mile performance: Worst = 3" 'catless' Corsa, I lost ET & MPH in the 1/4 mile so I sold it. Middle = OEM stocker with the interior/guts removed, see pic. It was just a few hundreds slower in the 1/4 mile, maybe the converter housing caused some turbulence. Best = Stock OEM as it came from the factory. I would try the aftermarket downpipes with the stock X-pipe converters because from my testing the stock X-pipe converters do not slow the car down at all and may take care of that exhaust odor. :thumbs::thumbs: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...fb5259ab4a.jpg |
After seeing what the main cat inside looks like I 'may' have to do a mod that looks stock and also does not create turbulence.

I suppose one could stick a straight pipe inside the gutted cat.....
My mistake! the above statement concerns the gutted X-pipe cats. And yes on the straight pipe. There are a couple different ways I can think of to do the job, one of which entails some straight pipe seal welding. |
