Your new car smell

Just received my 2019 z51 and was wondering what the average length of time your new car smell lasted.
Mine seems overpowering even in the open air.

Fart

It reduces pretty fast, but is there for quite awhile (thankfully IMO).

C7 new car smell is awesome, when I bought my first C7 (used, from a bud) I thought it was some air freshener and wasn’t too sure about it until I sold that car and bought a SS 1LE. About a year in I sat in a new C7 and it was the same smell, and at that point I liked it. Weird!

Bought my '17 used in Aug... It still smells new. I love the smell! It even makes my whole garage smell like Corvette!

It's totally dependent on C7's use.
One that's keep in a garage, with windows and top up and rarely driven smell will last almost infinitely. One that's keep outdoors with top and/or windows frequently down smell will dissipate quickly.

If odor is too strong for you, keep in garage with doors open, top off with a fan or fans circulating air through it. You should notice a substantial difference in a few days.

Should last at least a year IMO, unless you do something to quicken the fading of the new car smell.

I bought my used '16 in April. It still smells new. Even my friends noticed it this summer.
I LOVE that smell.

I have a buddy with an 8 year old car that still smells new. I asked him how he kept that scent. He said he has NEVER had food in his car.

Mine's a bought NEW 2017 3LT, going into it's 3rd year since manufactured. Still smells showroom NEW!! But then again , the 3LTs keep that fantastic new Corvette car smell a lot longer than the lesser trims.

Mine is a 2016 with 7400 miles and is just now slowly going away. I also never eat or carry food in the car.

Mine still smells brand new and will be 3 years old on Dec 1st. (Actual build date is Oct 14, 2015). It has 82,000 miles on it.

But since its new - if he farts, that means it would be worth $15,000 less...:jester

I've had several new Corvettes that had the "typical" new car smell (which I love). My new Carbon 65 has a different smell which is like fiberglass resin. I'm guessing it's the carbon fiber roof and steering wheel, or perhaps all new c7's smell that way. Either way, I'd like it to stay forever!

Mine is garaged and covered in winter, still has the new car smell a year and a half on.

Bought my 2016 used last December and was surprised by the new car smell still there. I actually figured it was something the used car dealer treated the car with.

That's the biggest load of fucking bullshit right there. Trim level has nothing to do with how a car smells. Where do you come up with this complete nonsense Joe?

My 1LT still smells like new (built the end of November 2017), I love the smell but my wife hates it.

Corgidog1 11-08-2018 07:46 AM

After 3.5 yrs my LT3 still has a strong leather smell-the new car adhesives odor has long disappeared.

I agree, carrying/eating food is new car smell killer. :ack:

I’ll never forget the salesman opening my rear hatch of my brand new GS at MacMulkin. It was like poof! Big cloud of new car smell hit me. Pretty intense. Then after I drove it all the way home, took a big nap and woke up to peek in the garage at my new car. The entire garage smelled like it, car was still warm. It has since faded a bit but I like it.
