Starts then bogs down.

Here is my dilemma........
My 87 Vette started bogging down this summer a couple of times.
By that, I mean all of a sudden it would act like it was starving for gas and quit running.
Let it sit for a few seconds and it would start up and run fine.
I thought it was a fuel pump going out and installed a new one and the car ran just fine till early this week.
It will start up and run fine for a couple of seconds to a minute and then it acts like it's starving for gas.
I've installed a new TPS and coil with no improvement.
Any ideas as to what the problem is.......

jy or borrow a fuel pressure gauge and put it on the schrader valve on the fuels rails passenger side.

re-create the issue and let us k ownif u experiece a loss of pressure while its falling on its face.

thnx.

Could be fuel filter

Check the fuel hose connection clamps to the fuel pump. Had similar problem and one of the clamps to the fuel pumps broke and the hose was lose.

Bogs down

I forgot to mention that new fuel filters, both in tank and in line.
I also have a pressure gauge at the injector rails and pressure does not bleed off when the engine is shut down.
the car will at times run great then out of the blue acts like its starving for gas.
I'm starting to lean towards the ECM...But I hope it's something less pricey...

Check the fuel pressure while its acting up. Don't fire up the parts cannon.

Getting ready to test the fuel pressure now.
I'll let everyone know how that test goes.
I'm also going to test the temp sensor and MAP voltage.
I'm also going to check the Idle Air Control valve.

This works a lot better with a scanner. You can compare the temperature of the sensor using an IR Thermometer vs what the ECM sees. You wouldn't be able the check the IAC without a scanner. You can guess at what the IAC is doing though.

Look at you exhaust too. I recently had very similar symptoms as yours on my 1990 vette. Turned out to be a blocked catalytic conveter. The right cat disintegrated and blew down and block the main cat.

Found the problem....
It was the coil.
I had changed it but the car still ran like crap.
But.......I remembered when I installed a new cap and rotor in 2016 that whoever owned the car before me must have had the distributor out and had it one tooth off
and instead of taking it back out and backing off one tooth they jumped the wires one ignition pole.
I had put the wires back in the proper rotation but when I jumped them one pole it started and is now running great.....
Now if I can get the A/C charged and putting out cold air I'll be happy.
I'm in the Tampa area for the winter and it's in the mid to high 80's.......
