What is the easiest way to replace the throttle cable on a '70?
Can you unbolt the linkage from the firewall and drop it down to give better access to the cable end? Mine broke at the carb end, I fixed it temporarily with a brass crimp and some solder, the new cable has arrived so keen to fit it soon.

I would not unbolt from the firewall. The worst part for me was difficulty seeing, my glasses kept moving out of place by touching the brake pedal. It also helps to remove the air duct. It’s doable though. Study the Willcox diagram, as long as the bushing in pedal rod stays put (it should) then it’s not too hard to “feel” the cable through the slot in the rod. My experience, fwiw. My 69 Frankensteins monster at one time had a roots blower and a long throttle cable, When i went to replace it my back did its bs when i almost cant move waist down, Tina my wife said " ill do it " She crawled in on her back seat was out, She starting in a string of cussing including a lot of damnning of the designers, but she made it happen, So besides the story adding little help consider removing the seat. |

Eddy I will give it a crack first without unbolting it but where the car is parked (not moveable at the moment) I will probably have to remove the drivers seat to improve access. |
