Has anyone ordered the GM Performance Intake??
I just put my order in for my new ZR1 and chose this option. Just wondering if it is worth it and does it mean the car is tuned from GM for it? I have until Tuesday to change my order but thinking what the hell I might as well try it..

As it's the only intake "available" for ZR1, I'd say go for it. It picks up roughly 15 whp based on youtube install videos and looks really nice. If you opt out, you can always get the box and fittings through these guys https://weaponxmotorsports.com/colle...lt5-air-intake

it's a few bucks cheaper if dealer installed. At least in my case.
|
I ordered it. I wanted the factory to install it.
|
I bought mine separate from the car. I got for $470 shipped. I like doing my own work and I saved some $ too.

I have the GM intake and Weapon-X smooth intake pipe installed by dealer. I watched and it was a fairly easy install. The intake looks cool and GM says it gives the LT5 17 hp (flywheel hp I'd guess). Weapon X has a new carbon fiber intake coming very soon, I'd check that out before buying the GM.

Mine came from the factory, added WeaponX smooth tube and ported t-body, made it even better

Yup, Dealer installed. You can also have factory do it. Looks awesome. |

My car was ordered before it was could be ordered from the factory so it was installed at dealer during PDI. Either way it gets GM warrantee. Chuck Mettes, Rick Conti’s “ metticulous” Corvette Tech, did say there was a little more involved with the installataion than first thought. Appears that great care has to be taken with hoses routed over the air box not to crack anything. At this point ordering from the factory is the way to go IMO.. aside from the performance gain, it looks really cool. |
Looks cool. You’ll never notice the 15 rwhp though. If your going mod the car for more power though it’ll be beneficial in the long run. |
I have one on my car. Took Museum Delivery and they put it on for me during their prep. Definitely go for it!

Is the air filter element readily available?

We like the look of this intake on the ZR1s. Great option from the factory or post delivery install.
Our last one in stock, NEW, is $420 shipped. Recommending a dealer install. |
We are offering it on the Black Friday special for $598.99 & free shipping + an additional 10% off.

GM is having a black Friday sale with 25% off on performance parts, apparently including the GM CAI, which would drop the price to $487.50. It's only good for Nov 23 to Nov 26 from what I've read. I think the link is accessories.chevrolet.com .

It's my understanding that the tune is the same regardless if you purchase the intake or not. |
