Front Shock Problem - 69
The front shocks are "stock" ACDelco from Corvette Central. They have 5000 miles on them and both are exactly the same. The marks are from me with a big screwdriver seeing if they would slide back into position but they don't. They are tight and not all the way off the rubbers as they can't go any further. Stock springs and suspension. Anybody seen this before?

I had one do that on my truck. It had a lot more miles on it though. |
Front shock
are you lubing the rubber? You may want to take the shock out of vehicle to get everything parallel and have better access |
No lube. Both shocks have done the same thing with under 5000 mi. of normal street driving. They are just cheap shocks but I noticed that others like Monroe have end lips or caps to prevent this. Kind of a poor design when the shock won't even stay centered on it's own mount plate. I wonder if they were made in China and just have an ACDelco stamp on them. Ah well, ordered another set this morning but not ACDelco's.

I think I would try to put a big ol' "C" clamp on that shock and force it over to the original wear marks. If it moves easily, add two drops of Gorilla Glue.
