My 2018 Z06 Halloween nightmare

So I've had the car for just over three months now. I was working a evening shift and got home just after midnight. With the master bedroom right above the garage I decided to be considerate to my wife and just leave the car outside for the night since the garage door opener shakes the bedroom and I didn't want to wake her up. I was going to wash it the next day anyway. Well, I woke up the next morning and looked out the window and this is what I saw. I'm not sure what did it, but all I can assume is that a cat was lying on top of it and either my dogs or someone else's dogs decided to chase it. I'm trying not to make an insurance claim on it or get it notated in the carfax report. My brother in law recomended me to a guy that works on mostly high end cars doing paint restoration and he's extremely confident that he can fix it without any repainting. When the scratches are wet they disappear and you can't feel most of them via the back of the finger feel test. Some you can barely feel. We'll see. Anybody else have any ideas or previous experience in case he can't? Thanks,

no suggestions but.....holy crap :(

Man that’s bad. Not to make you feel even worst but no way I’m leaving my Vette outside when I have a garage to put it in. A good detailer should be able to get most of them out depending how deep they are.

yeah....... I already told the wife to expect no more consideration from me when it comes to the garage door opening at night.

If you can feel an indentation when you go over it with your fingernail, the scratch has broken the clear coat and a repaint is in order. Good luck with it.

Wow! That is awful! I'm surprised you did not hear the commotion when it was happening.

Sconn 11-12-2018 02:02 PM

Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry that happened to you!!

I have to say... It reminds me of that Farmer's Insurance commercial where the cat is laying the car and a dozen dogs are scratching the car trying to get it.

They sell stuff to sprinkle around the ground to keep them away that works pretty well, from my experience... just takes re-application after rains and such. :yesnod:

Oh, man. I feel for ya. That sucks. Wishing you good luck on the fix.

Good reason not to own cats or dogs. Been there done that.

My fat cat ran out into my garage just last night while I had the laundry door opened, and I freaked out as I have 2 spotless Vettes in there! If I looked out and saw that, my heart might have exploded! Hope you get it fixed up...

A good detailer can fix it! My collie did the same to my C5, wet sand, polish and buffing did it. You will be ok

snappy2u 11-12-2018 03:15 PM

OMG!! Good luck, hope it works out.

Garage door wakes up your wife but that commotion didn’t?

Z QQH 6 11-12-2018 03:40 PM

If your garage door is that loud you need to have it serviced by a Pro. Sorry for ordeal.

Perf n Restore 11-12-2018 03:56 PM

Good luck....by the time your guys wet sands and buffs, the clear coat is going to be MIGHTY thin.
Please post the AFTER pics.
