Fuel Tank Replacement Recommendations
 

I'm going to replace the fuel tank in 67 TPI coupe. I've narrowed my search down to Rock Valley or Rick's Tanks for stainless tanks. Does anyone have any other fabricators I need to consider? These seem to be the two most posted about on this forum. I have a leak around my sending unit, and I'm not going to fix it. Sender needs to be on the top of the tank :willy:

Its on the very, VERY pricey side, but I've entertained this for the future fuel injection conversion....factory tank with fuel safe bladder http://fuelsafe.com/sa107a-corvette-fuel-cell/ Like I said, super expensive, but takes the 25 mph rear end collision/ fuel bath out of the equation. Just depends of how frequently you drive your car I suppose.

That being said, you can't go wrong with Rock Valley or Rick's as far as a quality product.

Any other comments? I'm going to pull the trigger on a new tank in the morning... Thanks

I have a Rock Valley EFI tank in my 62. no problems...

I went with Tanks Inc. In tank pump. It's not stainless, but is powder coated.

I used the Tanks Inc. TM33A-T. It uses the sender and intank fuel pump from the top. Fit and finish were nice. If I recall, tank, pump and sender were less than $500 about a year ago.

Patrick03 posted his while I was typing! However, I could not run the lines as he shows, I had to go over the side as there was not enough clearance between the lip on the front of the tank and the body of my '63 convertible.

Trigger pulled... Went with Ricks stainless tank. Rick's seemed a bit more flexible of the plumbing I requested. Price was within $60 of each other, so not really an issue.but shipping was free at Rick's and $100 from Rock Valley, so it started to add up. Lead time was also shorter at Rick's, so that was my deciding factor. Total was $908 for stainless tank (I already use an external fuel pump, so no pump in tank) and $150 for top mounted sending unit (3 wire). Should be here in about 5 weeks.

Off to the garage to pump my FULL gas tank into other vehicles. Then pull the tank. My existing tank is fine, but I'm changing the tank out because I had a return line fabricated into the existing bottom mounted sender plate. I've had the senders base plate crack twice now (assuming from vibration - about 6 years apart) and fuel leaking out of the bottom of the tank. Top mounted sender and both fuel lines will solve that problem. No desire to burn my house down... :leaving:
