2000 Hvac dead
I've have a 2000 vert, jumped in it after being on vacation for a week and the hvac head unit was black & unresponsive (not dim due to age). Searched the web for a few hours the next day on possible fixes, # 18 and #27 fuses are good, G202 ground has zero corrosion, shook the accordion tube between the doors. I even pulled the ignition switch (following Bill Curlee's instruction) and found a couple of burnt contacts, cleaned them up with 600 then 1000 and rubbing alcohol and still nothing. I am thinking the unit itself is bad. If anyone has recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. Fortunately enough summer is over down here in south Florida.

Most likely problem is resistor's on hvac control board not making good contact to circuit board, This is a known problem, unit has to be removed and resistors resoldered or hvac head unit replaced,

Would you know of anywhere to send the unit for repair?

No clue, but maybe somebody on the forum might, re-post with hvac controller repair shops.

Try c5led.com, Dave’s Corvette Illuminations. He repaired the lights on my HVAC controller a couple years ago and did a great job. Fast turnaround, fair price, and he guarantees his work. If the controller itself is bad/can’t be repaired, he may even have a replacement. His site lists his phone number, so you can speak with him directly with any questions. |
