Installed my Apsis Leather Door Panels today...

Well, I did it. I installed my leather door panels today. Overall the process is not too hard. Here are the issues I had:

Although the clips were aligned, the holes to put the torx bolts back in, behind the door handle never lined up. I eventually got both passenger side bolts in after a struggle, but got so frustrated with the drivers side, that I had to leave 1 bolt out. Everything still works, but I know there is only 1 bolt in there. My GUESS is that adding leather, etc. changes the alignment just enough to shift things around just a bit. (I believe that they break the door panels in 2 to install the leather, but I am not sure.) You'd think that if all the clips were aligned, the bolt holes would line up.

On the new drivers side door panel I was a little frustrated with what Apsis did with the cover behind the door handle. While both of those small pieces (1 for each side) were covered in leather, on the drivers side it was attached to the door panel with glue because the clips were broken. You can't attach something with glue that needs to be removed to get the bolts in. That was frustrating. I may just put a regular, uncovered one in it's place. I actually tried that at 1st, but then the little clips on mine broke because I don't think the leather was cut away enough to allow the clips to take hold. I glued their piece back in, after I got the 1 bolt in. Not sure if it'll hold.

I have a short temper so those 2 issues ticked me off, probably more than they should have. I kept concentrating on those things and not the fact that visually, the door panels are stunning and the leather work and stitching is fantastic. They match my interior black and red theme perfectly.

Below I will attached photos and a video.

The video has music to cover up my suspiciously heavy breathing. I was playing around with my new phone.

Don't know about the one bolt but it LOOKS good!!

Wow they look great. What a nice upgrade for the C5. This is what GM should installed as original equipment.

Thanks. It took GM until the C7 to realize that Corvette owners would like some quality materials in the interior.

No- 2012-2013 C6 seats.

Mike94ZLT1 11-18-2018 08:10 PM

What did those set you back?

redzg 11-18-2018 08:44 PM

For many door panel leathers even the display or advertising units have terribly crooked seams. Yours look perfect from photo distance. Very, very, impressive upgrade.

Mikes5thGen 11-18-2018 08:54 PM

Those look awesome! Definitely gives it a more modern and updated look, good job.

The deal was in this thread: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...red-nappa.html

I'll get happier as I look at them more. I just don't have the temperament for much DIY.

They really look amazing and match perfectly. Too bad the installation was such a pia.
Very nice looking interior.

Maybe this will help. Where the 2 bolts go thru that bracket is adjustable for the holes to line up. If you move it up and down to align the holes. I had to same issue on my one door till I realized you can move that bracket.

Very nice! It looks like you are doing a quality build all around. The steering wheel, the seats. I like the wheels too, well done!

Those door panels look sick!

i really want to do this!

lewislgZ06 11-19-2018 11:40 AM

Those door panels are amazing! I saw them when Jersey posted them, but he already has all of my $$ ! lol

zachaeous 11-19-2018 01:43 PM

Those door panels look great! I like what you have done with your interior. I agree that the cars should have had these type of premium interiors when new.

jrp1588 11-19-2018 01:46 PM

That looks great. How much did that cost?

91LSMAN 11-19-2018 07:53 PM

Thanks Everyone. The cost for these, as posted in a separate thread was $1688 plus core.

I had no idea that metal piece was adjustable. Something to think about if they ever have to come off. I really don't want to have to take anything back off. LOL

Modding a car over 11+ years of ownership is cheaper than buying a new car. LOL (sometimes)

Choreo 11-19-2018 11:01 PM

Those look great, wish I could justify the price for me!
