The level 2 course is actually cheaper than level 1 is...$3,495 VS $3,895

Save some $$'s and drive a Stingray instead of a GS or Z06 at the level 2.
Heading there in April.

Yeah, save the cash for something else.

I did Level 2 last Oct but got a discount at Funfest that was for 2 night stay for $1650. I drove a Z51 and had no problem staying up with Z’s or GS’s and passed most of them. I enjoyed Level 2 a lot more than Level 1 just the fact that you are able to pass a slower driver and set sights on the next victim made me push just a little harder and really get to see what the car and myself could do

Yeah. At this level, I think the Stingray is good enough.

How much are we talking here? The GS and Z06 are track cars. A Stingray on level 2? Yes I know the driver is the limiting factor in most cases (in my case).

I think the discount from a GS to Stingray was about $1000 for the level 2. When you sign up they can give you details. We had 5 of us sign up at Funfest and got the addition night in the Condos also.

Yes, will be there for level 2,,

I drove the Z51 at SM in December in the Corvette ownwers school and the car kept up with GS and Z06. When the instructor drove the Z51 with me in the passanger seat, it was white knuckle and it was only 70% of what the car can do.
There is a discount offered for level 1 and 2 if you take the Owners school. Not sure if there is a time limit.

When you say Stingray you mean Z51 right? If that's the case I can see why someone would take the discount since the Z51 is a track setup.

I'm going January 27-28. Got the condo booked for two nights. I am arriving on my motorcycle and was planning a trip into Death Valley after the school but that's now in jeopardy due to the government shut down. Not good. I'm looking forward to the school. I have my thin soled tennis shoes and my SD cards. Anything else besides sun glasses? I've heard they serve a mean steak at the Chicken Ranch lol...

I'm wondering what additional costs I might run into. The person I talked to on the phone talked about buying insurance. So what is that all about? I guess my AM EX card won't cover it like a regular rental car. I'm hoping this is not a huge up-charge when I get there. Anybody have a take on that?

I thought it was like a $200-300 up-charge to lower the deductible from $10,000 down to like (2-3k? I can't remember). The thing is it's really not money well spent because the chance of the instructors letting you do that much damage is close to impossible. It's too structured to allow that. The up-charge is just to satisfy those who can't sleep with the $10,000 deductible. I'm not worried about it and I'm going March.

Well $ 200-300 is a pretty big uncharge. So all you are doing is paying down the deductible? Obviously they have to accept general wear and tear on the car (track rash) and if a tire blows I hope they aren't going to be looking for money.
