TVS2300 build on an 01 Z06 by petdsim

Hey everyone. I recently purchased a virtually stock torch red 2001 Z06 from a forum member here. I decided to do a lot to the car this winter so that it will be ready for the nice weather next season (I live in the Chicagoland area so winter is quite brutal) and wanted to make a thread for the progression of the build.

Also, I know how much of a bad reputation the positive displacement blowers get on here... but, in my mind, as long as you do the proper suspension modifications and have sticky tires, the car will be able to utilize all that low end torque and have serious potential. I have had great experiences with positive displacement blowers in the past... and I love the feeling of getting sucked into my seat from the instant torque at such a wide RPM range, which is exactly why I decided to go with the TVS2300 kit.

That being said, I wanted to make sure the car would be able to put the power down... so, I did what I thought would be the necessary suspension modifications required to do so. Here is a list of all the performance parts I have purchased for the build that will be starting this week:

Forged LS6
Magnuson TVS2300 (12 lbs boost)
Magnuson TVS2300 rear cog drive upgrade
Flex fuel system
ID1300x injectors
A&A twin pump fuel system
Texas Speed Magic Stick 3 camshaft (237/242 .600”/.600” 111LSA)
Borla Atak mufflers
Kooks 1 7/8” long tube headers
Kooks off road x-pipe
McLoud RXT twin disc clutch
MGW short throw shifter with lower box
Under-drive pulley
BBK cold air intake
Magnuson TVS kit (intake manifold, intercooler, heat exchanger, and fuel rails)
Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S 345/35R18
Lingenfelter 2-step
LG G2 drag coil overs
aFe control PFADT series drag race rear sway bar
aFe control PFADT series drag race solid motor mounts
ECS differential brace
Hinson solid differential mount

This will predominantly be a street car with occasional track visits. Accordingly, I have also done a lot of aesthetic and comfort modifications:

Two-pod A pillar with GlowShift boost gauge and wide band air-to-fuel ratio gauge
Raptor Performance red LED shift light
Corbeau Forza Sport seats
Apsis D5 carbon fiber steering wheel
Black cross flags domed steering wheel emblem
Black cross flags domed door sill emblems
Black Alcantara wrapped dashboard, doors, headliner, A pillars, and center column with red stitching
Carbon fiber shift knob
Carbon fiber center console
Black leather shift and brake boot with red stitching
Brey-Krause gloss red harness bar
Corbeau 3” 5 point racing harnesses
Valentine V1 radar detector monitor custom fabricated into dashboard
Duraflex fiberglass 2” rear fender flares
Corvette Creationz stealth carbon fiber rear diffuser
Carbon Creations carbon fiber DriTech cowl hood
Carbon Creations carbon fiber ZR rear lip spoiler
Carbon Creations carbon fiber side skirts
Carbon Creations Vortex front splitter
RK Sport carbon fiber brake ducts
RK Sport carbon fiber door sills
Antenna delete
Side marker delete
Pioneer head unit
2 10” Rockford fosgate subwoofers
Cabin-facing subwoofer enclosure partition
5% tinted side and rear windows
50% tinted windshield
Gloss black vinyl wrapped roof and mirrors
Radioflyer Stealth Cannon V3 headlights
Tinted clear corner light housing
LED corner lights
LED switchback turn signals
LED halo mod tail lights
LED license plate lights
LED reverse lights
LED interior kit
Tinted reverse light lenses
Tinted brake lights
Tinted third brake light
Mesh front grilles painted black
Mesh side grilles
Black C6 Z06 front fender side emblems
18x9.5 & 18x12 C7 Z06 gloss black wheels
Black GM cross flags center caps
Corvette lettering in front and rear outlined in black
Ceramic coated exterior and undercarriage
Xpel clear bra wrap
Red LED interior kit
Trunk lid emblem delete
Front emblem blacked out
Black exhaust plate
WeatherTech floor mats
Keyhole cover

Most of the miscellaneous and aesthetic modifications have been installed. The car will be heading to the shop this week for installation of ALL the above performance modifications.

Also, I receive a lot of questions regarding the flex fuel conversion... there are no stand-alone flex fuel c5 kits available, so my shop custom made one for me by using a new ECM that is compatible with flex fuel systems.

I can't wait to experience the difference in power and drivability with going from a virtually stock vehicle baseline to a quite heavily modified version of the same car that will be making over two times the horsepower and torque very soon. I will update periodically whenever I get a chance. Stay tuned!

Thanks! My last build was a Camaro and this is my first Corvette. I'm hoping there won't be as many unpredicted issues as I had with the Camaro... but, it seems that in the car world, things never go smoothly and always cost an arm and a leg to resolve... ha!

The cam seems very anti-blower but it’ll sound wicked. :reddevil

Make sure you love that car and plan to keep it, because all that money will be down the drain so far as resale value.

Haha you’re absolutely right... but, we actually put the cam in for it to be an N/A build. When we decided to strap the blower on sooner than we expected, my shop offered to custom grind me a new cam, but said it would make virtually no difference, so we just kept it in. The cam is in my non forged motor currently and sounds amazing! It’s going to be transferred to the forged one very soon.

And yes I definitely plan to keep the car for my lifetime. I will never be able to get anything close to how much I dumped into it back if I decided to sell it lol. But, I knew that going in and decided to go forward and build what I have always wanted. In my opinion, it’s worth the money for the joy it’ll bring me alone... well, at least that’s what I keep telling myself anyways... ha!

Nice list of mods already done and planned. Good luck with the build and looking forward to progress reports.

Hope the weather cooperates so you can get it to the shop for the new engine and blower install.
My cam isn't what's considered a "blower cam" either, 234 242 .598 .610 112LSA, but i get compliments on the sound, like Josh said, everywhere I go, and it runs and drives great.
Looking forward to seeing you and the car next year in Effingham. I started to say the car finished, but like Billy Gibbons said, "A hot rod is never finished"
I'll be following your thread. The body mods came out great! You need to post up more of those pics.

Wow, things definitely escalated quickly there. Good luck with the build!

Thanks! The duraflex fenders were a real PITA; fitment was absolutely terrible. But, the body shop I took it to managed to work their magic. Also, the blower delivery was delayed, but it will be here mid next week and the car will be going to the shop for all the work as soon as it arrives. The build should take about 2 weeks if all goes well (and it never usually does... but I have my fingers crossed!). Can't wait to see your C5 in Effingham! Also, I've been loving the seats... thanks again! 😀

Absolutely... engine bay pics very soon! As soon as we get the new motor popped in I'll swing by the shop and take a few!

Thanks! She’s finally slowly coming together. Half the battle was convincing myself to buy all the parts. As long as you don’t check your bank account balance, all is well... haha.

Thanks I appreciate it! Dropping her off mid next week for the build and I’m hoping everything goes smoothly! Fingers crossed...

This is going to be great! Be sure to post up videos also!

Incredible looking build. Maggies are under-appreciated IMO. There's nothing like the instant massive torque from a PD blower for a street toy. It's gonna sound mean with the rear cog upgrade. Can't wait to see the results. Good luck!
