scam - mike smith
 

got scammed by a Email to me from a forum ad i placed for a corvette wheel.

he contacted me directly from my email that i posted - his name is mike smith - mikesmithsvt@yahoo.com

pis PP name came up as Mark Pham with a PP ID as :phamina7or@gmail.com



be aware - i should have known better :-((

The scammer was registered as Vetzo6 and Zr1god.

The pattern from this and other scammers we have seen is that they search for WTB threads and then send PMs saying they have the part the person is looking for. They then shift the conversation to email or text.

We aren't able to monitor PMs, so we don't know they are operating on the site until somebody's suspicion is aroused and they alert us.

If you paid by PayPal and did it as a purchase from a business rather than as "friends and family" you can contact PP and possibly get your money refunded. I did that one time, and within a week had my PP account credited.
