A/F ratio wideband O2 reader systems.
 

hello,

I want/need a hand held type tuning WB O2 reading system.
want the type that can be put in the exhaust pipe tip (clip on) after muffler (for non cat cars) and also use a bung before cat for cat/smog cars.

cost is important. doesn't matter if it is a round gauge or hand held type
display.

any and all opinions are welcome.

To jet a carb? I used innovate Motorsports, but connected to a laptop with Hptuners for fuel injection.

I have a FAST Dual Band that I used about 6 years ago to tune my mechanical secondary tri-power setup. Haven't used it since I swapped to EFI 5 years ago. Worked great. Also had playback capability.

FAST has an adapter for tailpipe use but I found it easier to just have a shop weld in a bung on each side.

yes, carb tuning checking thru all throttle positions.
i think it was the tv show about japanese classics where the guy had an a/f meter he clipped to the tail pipe.

i read here a few posts where guys use a/f meters.
i want one.

I have the innovate Motorsports unit.

I did find the clip on was totally inaccurate compared to a bung by the collector of the header.

like dawson said: the clip on exhaust type is crap... you need the superheated air around 2' from the exhaust ports for accurate readings

AEM is about 200 from summit. PIf you have headers put it in the collector before the flange/gasket, make sure you have 0 exhaust leaks.
ones at the tip (or a leaky system) can give false readings esp if you have a lot of overlap.

I have the AEM wideband from summit. Ran it all summer. I'm glad I did because it makes jetting and tuning soooooo easy. no more reading spark plugs. And all my plugs where nice and tan when I pulled them this fall. I mounted it on the A pillar at hand level when I drive so I can block it with my hand so the lights arent distracting.. I used a cheap single gauge plastic mount and dyed it to match the interior. I need a new one since I molded it with a heat gun and my skills werent the greatest the first time around.

I agree, sticking it in the tailpipe is going to give erroneous readings, it needs to be as close as possible to the heads.

If I was tuning for a carb, I would opt for something like this since you don't have all the associated sensors like throttle position, coolant temp, MAP/MAF, spark advance etc. That way you can do some "back of the envelope" data logging and feed that back into your rejetting process.

I have the Innovate. Works great.

Here is the brand I am using. Zeitronix. I have a ZT2 + ZT3 since each unit works with 1 channel. They now have a Entry level ZT4 for both (Dual setup)

I don't have a constant display running but more important I can connect to the laptop and data log the inputs. Here is a example of the data

The use the ZT2 so I can connect other inputs such as RPM , Map Sensors (Vacuum / Boost), Temperature sensor etc. This is showing a WOT Run 1st thur 3rd gear. I marked 3 points to display the AFR , RPM @ that given point. You can move the cursor to any point to see what the rears are to analyze what is happening at any RPM / LOAD.

I use the Daytona Sensors Wego III system. It has built in data logging you can download to a computer through its USB port or can view it live on a laptop. You can program it to readout on it's built in screen in AFR calibrated to whatever fuel you are using or you can run it in Lambda. It has a 5 volt input for a sensor such as throttle position or a MAP sensor. Also has a 5 volt output to run it into most any of the data acquisition systems.
