Is C7 designed to shake a little while idling?
Picked up my first C7 in November. The car shakes, light vibration when it idles. Does it when cold or at operating temperature. The tach stays rate on 600RPM at idle and runs flawlessly besides this. I took it to the dealer a couple days ago for the 500 mile oil change and asked them about it. They put a scanner on it to check for codes but there were none. They didn't seem concerned at all. Is this normal?

Yes. It’s normal... |
Mine does the same thing.

You can delet it while tunning the car if it is stock it will shake |
Yes mine shakes as well |
Like a lot of high performance engines the C7 cam shaft has higher lobes than normal street engines. I built an engine years ago for a 1961 Corvette that had a cam so high it would not idle less that 800 rpm. The car idle is normal for the car. if you ever get a chance to stand next to a C1 with 270 HP motor will it is running you will see a Corvette "shake". |
rough idle
I'm sure some will question this, but since it's true with my Stingray I'll say it anyway. My car idles a little rough too. But if I floor it and rev it up near the red line a couple of times it seems to idle a little bit smoother. I believe these motors benefit from being 'cleaned out' every once in a while. I had a Mercedes 420 years ago that had the 5.0 liter V8 in it and I could not tell the motor was running while idling, when sitting in the drivers seat. Zero vibration. Zero noise.

Mine is very quiet and has no shake at all. Now after I start it I definitely notice both shaking and it does make noise.
|
I don't think they designed it that way, I think it just turned out that way.
|
Perfectly normal.

It has a massive V8 sitting under the hood, of course its going to rumble and shake a bit at idle. I consider this a feature and not a bug :D
|
Yup its normal. Apparently it is more pronounced on the Z51 M7's.
|
I can hear the water flowing through the car. Is that normal?
|
Mines shaky and loud! Just the way I like it. I consider it a feature.

Dry sump? You can sometimes hear the oil flowing thru the canister I think.

If you prefer a high-performance car that does't shake, then go electric. |
