700-r4 pan, will this work?

Hey I purchased this pan to install Monday and it should arrive soon. Is this going to work because the size is a bit larger than stock.
Mine was not perfect around screw holes and I wanted a more robust pan.
Anyone tried it?

Thx in advance

Looks similar to the one i bought from Summit. No problems with mine and the drain hole sure makes it nice when changing fluid.

I had one like yours on for a few years. The front of the pan has more fluid capacity and is lower than stock. When I had my 88's trans rebuild I went back to stock with a drain pan kit. Why, I watched my car go over speed bumps where I worked and it was very close to scraping. Just be careful.

Hey there should I just put the magnet inside the pan there isn't a stopper or hump for it. The pan fits great a little bit lower(adout 1/in max) The magnet may slide around any ideas?

put the magnet in the same position as the original. It won't slide around. You have to pry it out ot remove it.

With all due respect 383vett.
Aluminum as well as Stainless are not magnetic. Maybe he can epoxy it to the pan so it won't move around?

Yes the Aluminum pan, I am checking to see if the drain plug is magnetic when I do a flush tomorrow. I don't want the magnet to slap around it is pretty heavy.

What exactly does this pan do? IIRC, on the Powerstroke forums, there was a Ford engineer who actually did develop the 4R100 trans. I think they went to the 6.0:L trans cooler because it was effective as their thermometers told them. The larger pans did nothing and in this case, will lower the ground clearence so maybe it better do something instead of "My brother who knows someone who knows someone that tried......". What exactly is the OP trying to accomplish in this pan that it is worth the sacrifice of ground clearance.

I needed a new pan since the old o e was cracking and warped. The flush surface works great and the drain is great. I have not had any problems over speed bumps and my only concern is the darn magnet rattlig every start a d stop/start.

If you are OK with the loss of ground clearance I'd think it might be OK for you to rough up the pan and use expoy that is oil resistant to glue the magnet to the pan?

Job is finished , I put a few walmart magnets(strong) onto the filter which had a steel bottom.

I included a pick ro show the length. No real problems with the lower pan.

Right

Have the Moroso alum pan with drain plug and temp sender bung. Fits great. No difference in ground clearance (lost maybe 1/8th")
