Since it seems pretty much the consensus that the C8 won’t see a reveal at Detroit.... I’m betting they at least “tease” us with a hint of the car, thereby acknowledging its existence and possibly give us a date of the actual reveal. Something like ford has done recently with the Bronco and then the upcoming GT500. Maybe some type of darkened silhouette or logo etc. probably slipped in at the tail end of GMs press discussion at Detroit.. what are your guys thoughts?

Seems logical there has to be a major detour getting the C8 out, or just maybe they want to unload the C7 first, it sure is hard making a major car price purchase at present.

As much as it would be nice to see at least a teaser, in addition to not being revealed there, it has also been said that they won't even mention it there. Really hoping for a NY debut. I cant wait until LA 2019, I just can't wait any longer.

Bingo !! I am in the just are not willing to wait any longer club.

If GM does not acknowledge and at least start the revel process which could take many months by the end of January then I will spend my 150k plus on a 2020 911s.

Great car that can be order spring of 2019 and take delivery in late summer 2019.

I think many of us are tired of the wait or more importantly the lack of acknowledgement that the C8 is coming and coming soon.

I have had deposit in since January 2016 and told myself of I could not order in spring of 19 and take delivery in the fall of 2019 that I would spend my money with one of the many comparable high performance super cars available for 150k+.

Life is short I want to enjoy it and this indefinite wait with no excitement from a GM acknowledgement and or teaser it's is very likely many of us will move on to the many other great options out there.

I am life long Corvette guy but I also enjoy high performance cars besides just Corvette.

I am now at the point if no acknowledgement from GM by end of January I am spending my money on a 911s which is great car in of itself.

It's happening next Aug at Pebble Beach Concour D'Elegance and the Quail.

Yeah, this reveal has simply been drawn out way too long. I hope GM goes with a different type of vehicle test in the future, like what other manufacturers are doing. They keep it out of the public eye, then a few months before the reveal, they let it out in the open, reveal it, order a couple months later and then you have your car a few months after that. This whole waiting for several years before even a reveal is really awful. Even better would be if Chevy had done what Ford did with the new GT. Nobody knew it was coming, nobody even had a hunt in the back if their head Ford was working on a new GT. Then bam, Ford just let's it loose. That would have been amazing if Chevy did that with the mid engine Corvette. But obviously that is impossible since we've seen this car since it had C7 doors:lolg:

No way! Have you been to Monterey Car Week? Neither the Quail on Friday or Pebble Beach on Sunday would be an appropriate venue for the introduction of an American car. And at the price those tickets, not many Corvette enthusiast who claim on this forum that they want to attend the reveal would be there.

On the other hand, I was able to attend Monterey Car Week a couple years ago as a bucket list item and I strongly recommend the experience to any car enthusiast. Lots of cool cars and cool venues. We hope to go back.

I've been jonesing for something new so I bought a Silverado. Pretty cool in it's own right but it won't hold me back from the ME whenever it comes down from on high.

Where we're going we don't need roads!

lt4obsesses 12-14-2018 11:53 PM

I think the car is ready, and it is going to show at Detroit, drop it like bomb out of the blue. Just like Ford did with the GT.

Why do I think that? Because this is a car 50+ years in the dreaming. It's not your typical "here's your next Corvette" reveal. This epic stuff and Detroit is the only place for it.

im thinking that as well. Something kinda along the lines of the Demon.

A year. That's my guess. Maybe the LA auto show next November.

IMO, there is no "rush". This is not going to make GM a lot of money. They have 10 or 15 other new models they would rather spend resources on while they cut white collar jobs.

If we are going on that idea, it actually would make a lot of sense. The rumor that it is delayed, pushing things back, from an insider. Detroit is the home of the American automobile, so it would make a lot of sense. But unfortunately I do not think we will be that lucky.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your buying a different car---for now. After all, you STILL are permitted to sell it whenever the C8 ME comes out and buy one if you so choose, right?

I am glad, IF it's even true, that GM will wait or "delay" the C8 ME until they get some issues resolved BEFORE you or anyone becomes "the test bunny". I also don't think they have to announce a darn thing until they're ready.

BIG Dave 12-15-2018 08:53 AM

I’m not understanding the impatience. Are your garages completely empty? You don’t have one single vehicle you can drive until the C8 arrives? Just be patient, if the C8 doesn’t arrive as a MY 2020, it should arrive as a MY 2021. We’ve all been waiting decades for a Mid Engine Corvette, what’s another year or two?

That actually makes some sense. It could explain that the miles have completed their testing and are no longer being seen, and why what appeared to be an early version of the C8-R was seen testing at Sebring, even though Corvette Racing will campaign the C7-R in 2019.

This will be GM's biggest announcement, ever. I'm thinking Superbowl commercial.

Shrike6 12-15-2018 10:14 AM

I have considered that all these stories of delays etc, could be a gigantic head fake. Since we all have been following the progress of the ME, and anticipating Detroit, if they wanted to re establish the surprise and shock, they could do just what they have done. Then drop it like a blockbuster at Detroit without warning. SURPRISE, SHOCK AND AWE.

As much as I’d love to see it revealed in Detroit, I don’t think that’s going to happen. Here’s why ... GM has just announced that the new Cadillac XT6 SUV will be unveiled at Detroit. I don’t think GM would want to take away the stage from Cadillac even though the ME would be a much bigger draw. The press would be all over the ME leaving the XT6 to play second fiddle to it. That’s not how GM marketing works. Better for them to have only one major reveal per show so they can get as much media coverage that they can from it. But again, that’s JMO ... YMMV.

I too have been thinking that! Sometimes NO means YES. Regardless of a reveal in Detroit or not..... I believe we will all officially know something in January from GM. I big telecast reveal via Internet.
