Is 14.5% off MSRP the best I can do?
 

You can try for 16%, but you may just piss off the dealer. If you're at 14.5 off of a 1LT the dealer isn't making any money to speak of as it is. I'd just take the deal, and not embarrass myself. Remember, there isn't that much mark up on cars anymore, and the dealer has to make a little money to stay in business. Good luck.

:iagree:I agree with Reb. If you like the dealer it is a fair deal especially for an ordered car. There might be bigger discounts in 2019 to get rid of dealer stock but this is a nice discount on an ordered car.:thumbs:

It's a good price. If there were going to be super deals this winter, they'd already be here.

Just an alternate way of thinking...you can do alot better - buy used and save 30% to 50% off MSRP depending on the year...AND you can get a 3LT, with all the bells and whistle. No one drives these cars, so you can get one with under 5000 miles and save alot higher percentage than new... Used, 3LT, with 5000 miles at a 30% to 50% savings vs 16% off a 1LT (which will be harder to sell down the road)... Sort of a no brainer... Good Luck either way cause a C7 is an amazing car.

Of course used is always an alternative, as is buying C7 from dealer inventory however OP states he's negotiating to order new. In regard to buying used, I personally wouldn't purchase a used 3LT considering a spent or diminishing warranty and the risk of having to deal with a leather dash issue and possibly a $3,000 repair. Additionally, I've seen no indication as to 1LTs being harder to sell, lots of C7 buyers prefer them. Typically what you find sitting on dealer lots for a year or two is 3LT Stingrays.

14.5% off on an ordered car is a great deal! There may be better discounts later on in stock cars, but you may not get what you want.

If ordering I would go ahead at 14%. Have a hard time believing you'll do much better than that.

Now if buying from dealer stock, I would say you can do much better by being patient and shopping around. I got my new 2017 z51 3lt with mag ride in May of this year (2018) for just $51,700 and only 17 miles on the odometer. But I had to spend hours searching dealer inventory and drove 9 hours to pick it up, too. It just depends on the specific options you want. All I cared about was z51 package, mag ride, coupe, and manual transmission.

If you want a hint, call up Chevy's customer service, tell them exactly what you are looking for, and they can search the entire country for dealer inventory. Far better than searching manually. Then you can pit one dealer against another, if it comes to that. I got lucky and found a dealer who really wanted to unload a Corvette lol.

Imho, what exactly you want and how emphatically should determine which way YOU wish to go, as much price.

For me, I'd not touch a used Vette... period, unless I personally knew the seller and well. As for "all the bells & whistles," again, your call, but some of us would pay extra for LESS such crappola. Perhaps solid advice and perhaps not, depending which "used" C7 a purchaser ends up with. There are plenty Corvettes (both new and used) purchased over the winter months.
Certainly a lot of unsolicited advice being offered as the OP never mentions any interest in buying used or from existing dealer inventory.
