First Vette, new to me base C7 (M7, no options)

Dipping my toe into the C7 world for my first Corvette (2016 Stingray M7, with no options), purchased from a member here for a decent price. The guy was a neat freak and the car is like new in all regards (except center arm rest wrinkles).

I know most hate the 18/19 stock wheels, but I actually like the design. The car is like a blank canvas that I will improve over time (or maybe not :D) My first mod will be a NPP (less the valves) I'm getting from another member. I know I get no stealth mode, but the stock exhaust is too quiet so this should be a good upgrade. Later, a spoiler (probably), and black wheels and badges (maybe).

On my fist drive, I noticed other drivers acting weird. This car seems to attract an assortment of cars following me closely, trying to pass me for no reason, and generally causing some folks to go into race mode as soon as they they see me.

The grey 5 spokes have a clean, understated look to me  which I prefer over my chrome Z51 wheels :hide:

Hey, congrats on your new ride, she looks nice and welcome to ya!

GTRSOLO 12-17-2018 03:13 PM

Congrats. I've had mine for a little over a year. Got it with 8 miles on it. Put it in the garage last night with almost 2k on the clock. I have a M7 too. They are a blast. Yes, they attract anyone with even the slightest interest in racing.
I raced a lexus last night on the way home. Then a late 70's chevy truck gave his truck all it had passing me at about 100mph, I caught up and played around a bit. It was a cool truck, not a resto-mod, just a very clean well kept stock 70's chevy pick-up.
Enjoy the new ride!

Welcome and glad to see you bought the best color! You'll get used to the weirdness !

Patman 12-17-2018 03:19 PM

Congrats on your purchase! I like those wheels actually, if they still offered them in 2018 when I ordered my car I would have been happy with them. :)

PatternDayTrader 12-17-2018 03:26 PM

Great looking car. I even think the no options is appealing.

Thanks. I think they don't look race-oriented enough for some people, so they prefer them in black, which I think loses too much of the detail. But to each his own, right?

You will notice this A LOT. I get it occasionally in my Charger SRT, but I think most people don't really know what it is since it's a 4-door sedan. But EVERYONE knows what a Corvette is and I was surprised when I recently bought my Z06 how these cars bring out the stupidity in other drivers.

Be safe and have fun.

Congratulations on an awesome car!

I have an optionless Grand Sport and love the blank slate (and extra cash to change that blank slate into my slate)!

Nice looking car! I just bought my first C7 last month, a 2016 Stingray complete with the center arm rest wrinkles! the dealer has confirmed it will be repaired/replaced on warranty- is this an issue that affects 2016 models?

Mello Yello Maizey 12-17-2018 09:45 PM

Congratulations on your beautiful Vette! It is a twin of my first one, and yes, the crazies come out to play when you drive. Took several road trips and had to be extra careful of the people riding along side me when I wanted to change lanes. They just wouldn't move! Enjoy, and have fun!!!

mschuyler 12-17-2018 09:45 PM

Least you got a manual. Yeah, other people are weird. The following too close bugs me the most just because it's dangerous.

2016C7.paul 12-17-2018 09:52 PM

Absolutely beautiful car.

The center console lid wrinkle is a known-issue and a warranty item. I had mine replaced at Bruce Lowrie FTW. The replacement center console lid is a much sturdier deign. Manager of the service desk told me that, although most people believe it is a soft foam issue, it is really a de-lamination issue. In any case, he said he has not had any of the warranty replacements back for wrinkling.

Shark Gray, correct? A very nice look with the stock wheels and similar to what I chose with my 2017 Watkins Glen Gray C7--a classic look. My car is also a 1LT, though with the auto transmission.

Congratulations.

hemistar1 12-17-2018 10:14 PM

Welcome. Sharp car and nice mods planned...I am new here as well. I am looking forward to your build thread and yes the “lookielous” and stoplight racers are abundant. They want you to show off..that color is awesome and it’s a vettte!!!! I just smile and think of my low insurance premium and save all that Jazz for the track.

once again congrats:D
