Interesting... I still hope it costs the price of like C7Z because if it’s what she says it is I will be very disappointed! There’s no way I’d trade my mclaren for a corvette... but maybe that’s just me.

Reading this was like reading a movie script for car lovers. Well that's a lot of info I would hope it's correct. My main interest is what the base price is going to be for the new C8 so I can make my move sooner than later. I'm a man of many kinds of cars and 2020 will be a interesting year for me. :auto:

My thoughts exactly.
That convo may or may not have happened...

That sounds great for the Camaro. If only I could see out of it. I almost bought a ZL-1, until I sat in one and then went with a GS M7. If they re-design the Camaro to be able to see out of it, I would consider it with that kind of HP.

Typical welcome home to CF reply. Some people just can't help but be an ass.

The proposed time delay is a concern . That's why I placed a deposit on a 911s . Have had a deposit on c8 since January of 2016.

I tired of the wait. I also think the v6 will be a tough sell to traditional Corvette guys.

I was hoping for a 4.2 Dohc TT in the base with a starting price in the mid 80k range and optioned up into the 105k range similar to the C7 Z06.

Anyway welcome back to CF. Your going to catch a bunch of crap from all the nay sayers.

The way some act you think that you were selling them.the information rather than just passing along what you were told.

Best wishes for the holidays !

Sounds reasonable. I for one now love the new Camaro looks. I hated every picture I saw, but now in person, they are really nice.

You lost me at the press release. When have they ever launched the top dog model right alongside the base car?

It all checks out with what I've heard from credible sources, most notably the Spring reveal (NYC), and 3 different models topping out above current ZR1. The real unknown is where the base will start, but $70K-ish is most likely with a naturally-aspirated, LT1/2 at 500-ish HP.

Personally, and just a wild azz guess, I don't understand why anyone would believe that a New C8 Mid-Engine platform Corvette that looks like a Supercar would cost anything less than $90.000.00

I would much rather have a C8 ME with 500HP+ than a C7 Z06 loaded with 650HP.

But that's just me.

I hope most here are right and the base C8 comes in around $70,000.00. Sounds like a steal to me.

When a Camaro ZL1 1LE is going for $75,000.00, the New Ford GT500 probably $80,000.00 + ADM, Shelby GT350R $75,000.00 and the new 911s are $120ish, why would a ME C8 come under $70,000.00?

I agree I don't think GM has to low ball the price of the car.

If they have gone with a 4.2 DOHC AND TT as the base with a DCT and improved interior there is nothing in the market place that cost less than 120k plus. So 90k is still a bargain.

I just order a 911 and no way you can get in the car under 140k with just a few options that any car costing over 100k should have.

Heck GM is selling Tahoe and Silverado that are close to 80k

Corvette alway been the Chevrolet flag ship. With all new design and world class build why would they sell for less than 30 or 40 % less than what Porsche or Audi or Acura are asking for their flag ship cars.

And the C8 no longer share a transmission with Cadillac, Camero, and multiple GM SUV and no longer share an engine with the same above they have to increase the cost to make a fair profit.

I don't have a problem with how you got the supposed info since that's how I usually got my info once upon a time.

Usually, the risk is misunderstanding something, eg, she was talking about a different car model, but the detail you gave on the C8 argues against misunderstanding that.

On the Camaro part, if the call really happened, it sounds like the risk is that you could have put words in her mouth, because you're looking for a certain outcome...

Anyway, all in all, more interesting than not! thanks for posting!
