Repainting LT5

I have my top end apart for porting. While I have it apart I want to refinish the plenum/IH's/ cam covers. I will be painting the cam covers in the car. I've done searches and have seen pics of other peoples results and I've narrowed it down to 2 color choices. Silver from Jerry's or white(my car is white). has anyone painted their cam covers white while they were still in the car? If so did you use primer and can you post pictures?
Thanks
Matt

My suggestion is take them off the motor. The passenger side can be done as is, while the driver’s side would require removing brake booster. As for white, I’d be concerned w yellowing.

Steve, that paint came out great! I’m going to get that same paint.

Thanks for all the responses guys. You've given me some things to think about. I was kinda hoping to hear from someone who has done white and maybe had experience with the issues mentioned above. I do have time to think about it...

Of the various refinishes I've seen, short of polishing, I think silver metallic looks the best.

I’m partial to red, but I think the white would look amazing...

Marc Haibeck did mine...

Looks awesome! Any trouble with discoloration or keeping it clean?

The best way is to remove all the parts and have them powder coated.I did this on my 91 about 15 years ago and it still looks great.
I did paint my 94 ZR-1 using lingenfelter spray paint that was an almost exact duplicate of the factory powder coat. I compared a nos plenum to the lingenfelter spray and they were almost identical. The only mistake I made was using a VHT hi temp clear coat. After about a year it started to yellow .Make sure you use a high quality ,hi temp clear.

For durability, I'd definitely take it all down and get it powder coated..

If you have a white car, a white engine sets it off. They are a whore to keep clean, but it makes people say "wow" when you open the hood... although there's probably other reasons for that. (The LT5 by itself no doubt has a presence regardless of what color you paint it.) I have noticed mine is slightly yellowed, but I believe that paint is from 2009. The oil filter is what I'd call "true white" for comparison in this picture.

Yes my car is white. If I do go with white, yours is exactly the look I'm going for. Black bolts and black hoses for contrast. Thanks for posting this picture.

I wanted to use black magnecor wires, but magnecor only sells the KV85's in red. It looks OK I guess, it's definitely old paint. (it's standard automotive paint, not very durable.) Powder coating would be awesome but I don't want to know what that would cost. I would also be hesitant to hand my parts off to some random powder coating place; I'd want to get to know the person doing the work first and give them an idea of how rare/expensive these parts can be. Aluminum castings don't usually take kindly to the aggressive media blasting that most powder coating places use.
