C7 or C8

In another thread going on the forum now asked would you buy a C8? It seems No votes have the lead? So if the C8 has no stick shift, less cargo space, etc would you then either order or buy 2019 since it will be the last front engine Corvette? GM will probably have some good incentives to move C7's off the lots? I am going to sit back and see what the C8 really looks like, what powertrain it has, and of course the price!!! If I don't like it and GM has some good deals on 2019's than I will trade my 2016 in on a 2019 and it wouldn't cost a whole lot to do it?

You don't know that. No one outside of GM does

devnull 12-26-2018 10:02 PM

C7 is already mid engine (it's front-mid engine, behind the front axles). You technically don't sit in the front seats, you sit in the back.

Start the debate... GO.

:D

C8 hasn’t even been confirmed😂😂. I’ll rock my 2019 Stingray with a huge smile on my face!!

OmarZ06 12-26-2018 10:40 PM

If the funds permit hell yeah! I'll take a c8

patentcad 12-26-2018 10:43 PM

I take it one car payment at a time boys. I love these threads asking people to give a buying opinion on a CAR NOBODY HAS EVER EVEN SEEN IN PHOTOS.

Vetteman Jack 12-26-2018 10:57 PM

I'm happy with my C7. Not even going to worry about a C8 at this point.

Maxie2U 12-26-2018 11:17 PM

Tough choice. On one hand I would love a mid engine Corvette the downside is we like to take long road trips every year that last 3+ weeks so cargo space is very important to us.

Skid Row Joe 12-26-2018 11:48 PM

Keep your C7, and buy a new C8. That's what several of us are going to do. No point in buying a C7.

Isn't a 2016 and 2019 C7 basically the same car? I can understand trading a 2016 C7 in for a C8 or another car or a C6 for a 2019 C7 but don't see the reason for spending that much money for essentially the same car (sales tax alone is close to $10K before factoring in depreciation even with a great deal on the 2019).

I've known a couple of guys that buy a new Corvette each year. Some are members here. They probably enjoy doing it and maybe they don't want to take the money with them at the end.

I have a 2016 Z06 M7 LBR Coupe that puts a big smile on my face every time I push the Start button -- and every time I drive it, I come away thinking about how lucky I am.

Rumor is that the C8 will debut with a price of $167K --- from my point of view, that's a lot of greenbacks any way you look at it.

So to my question: What is a C8 owner going to get for that kind of outlay (cost/benefit) that is going to drive a C7 Z06 owner (like me) to consider switching out what he already has? At this point, I'm just not seeing it ...

V Vette 12-27-2018 07:39 AM

Im in, if funds permit, Im getting C8.....:yesnod:

JerriVette 12-27-2018 08:02 AM

I believe the choice for many including myself is between the c7 z06 discounted to about the same price as a c8 z51 with a dct, mrc, npp, fals ....

by the time the c8 reveal occurs i fully expect the c7 z06 left ver and the brand new c8 will cost about the same..,

one with 650 hp..one with about 520 hp..

one with a rev matching manual transmission..,one with the new dct...

one front mid engine ..one with rear mid engine...

that ll be the choice to make...both pricing between 70 to 80 grand

good question from origianl poster...

im not sure yet Im leaning towards the rear mid engine since its been 40 years in the making

I'm going to hold out for the FRONT engine C8. There is no way Bowling Green can keep the doors open only making a mid-engine C8. After the sales start falling for the C-8 mid-engine, watch out for a front engine car. Even most of your supercar manufactures still make front engine cars.

dvilin 12-27-2018 08:25 AM

Love my 2019 Z06 M7 Convertible, hard to say if I would move on to a C8 a car no one here has seen, driven, priced etc.

My thoughts exactly. Even though my 14 is a first year model it worked out very well since I have had zero problems. With the all new mid engine design, I feel there will be some teething problems in the first year. I can wait.

roadbike56 12-27-2018 08:44 AM

I love my C7 and I love my wife. If I keep the C7, I keep both. If I buy a C8, I think a lawyer will end up owning it instead of me. Sooooo :D

Zjoe6 12-27-2018 08:56 AM

There is no C8. Just ask GM.

Steve Garrett 12-27-2018 11:38 AM

How can anyone ask this question when the C8 is not out yet. You don't know specs, you don't know price....how can anyone answer this question correctly?
