2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe and Stingray Convertible ONLY???
GM Dealer ordering system this morning.... Thoughts ?
|
GM probably hasn't released the 2020 order guide to the dealerships and the Stingray/Convertible designations are effectively placeholders. I wouldn't read too much into it.
|
"There is no data for the model you selected. Please select a different model...."
It's probably just a placeholder while they update the system. They could add the rest of the models, or it could go away entirely if the C8 ends up being the only 2020 car. One thing that makes me curious though.....1YCx7 isn't a current C7 model code. This is the current codes are: 1YV07 = ZR1 coupe 1YV67 = ZR1 vert 1YW07 = Grand Sport coupe 1YW67 = Grand Sport vert 1YX07 = Stingray Z51 coupe 1YX67 = Stingray Z51 vert 1YY07 = Stingray coupe 1YY67 = Stingray vert 1YZ07 = Z06 coupe 1YZ67 = Z06 vert |
I agree, just a place holder. Will really be interesting to see what the 2020 model year will bring. I'm sure we will see details here shortly after release.

I lol at this for the simple fact that for all new here they are panicking to keep people connected to the C8 by calling it..... a stingray.. I mean take the bold leap and call it a Zora and see what people do?
Like throwing lipstick on a pig.. people will either love the ME car or not.. trying to make them forget it's a complete platform change by using the stingray moniker is insulting. just my opinion. |
I think the C8s are a retractable top so maybe only 1 model

Moved to C8 General Discussion.

You do realize that the "Stingray" Model has been around on a Corvette for decades ,Actually more then half a century
Sting Ray first used on the 1963 model. |
Zora only means something to a handful of Corvette zealots.

And the stingray was an FE corvette.
No imagination on their part. None. Whi cares what they called it. But calling it a stingray is the same thing gm and many others did trying to keep customer's interested and connected when they switched from rwd to fwd in the 80s... was not a fan then... not a fan now. Its a corvette but it is not a stingray or a sting ray... |
Zora would make more sense to the 2500 or so, who are the types to buy into the high-end monster if and when it appears. However, the base car has to be successful first or we'll never see a ZR1-like version.
Stingray has far more name recognition among the general public. |

Plus why name your base model after the architect of the car? Wouldn't you want that to be your premier option? |
