63 Z06 wanted
Ok, I know I'm dreaming, but I've decided I need a 63 Z06. I'm not especially looking for a steal, I know what they're worth. What I do not want is a body-off restored, history hidden, car, full of Paragon parts (nothing wrong with Paragon, mind you, I love 'em). Beyond that, I'm open to look at anything, in any condition, race livery, wrecked, rusty, all of the above. If you find it in a barn, untouched, with uniform patina, covered with a quarter inch of dust, milk crates an a baby carriage, leave it there, I'll be right over.:auto: and we'll saw down the tree growing in front of the barn door together...
Please note that I'm in no hurry and I do know 63s very well, so I'll check every claim. I'll also pay more than a big dealer, for the right car. Please PM me, smart Alec comments here are welcome, but expect an equally smart-assed retort:yesnod:. If you even think you know where one is, let me know:yesnod: Thanks, Mike |

Michael, you're probably aware of these but if not, you may want to get ahold of a bidder's paddle for Kissimmee:

Thanks,
There are actually three Z06 cars at Kissimmee. 1. The white one we've discussed in the Forum. History and price of this car concerns me. Not for me. 2. The black/black car is an older restoration, without any documentation shown. I'd need more time for research. I'd also have to do a re-restoration, I've already done one of those of a previously Duntov'd car. Re-restorations of older restorations mean paint and body work, and surface rust on components, patina, and there'll probably be a whole host of old repro parts already on it - it's a difficult, expensive proposition to find the originals. It'd have to go cheap. 375-425 K is too much for a car without provenance evident and a re-restoration necessary. Not interested. 3. The third one is nice, top notch restoration, great colors, provenance, Duntov, the whole deal. It'll go very high, I think. I'd love that one, but the bidding's likely to get out of hand. I always set a max bid beforehand, that'd be hard on this one. Also, too late to go to Kissimmee to see it (I'm in Maui 'til Saturday, but I could bid by phone - if I'd seen the car...). Might be too soon to go to an Auction. I'm in no hurry, I'll look for a while. Mike |
Here's a nice one. Good luck on your search. https://www.proteamcorvette.com/Corv...22E/1022E.html

Thanks, I'm familiar with that car. I'm trying to stay away from big dealers for now. Maybe later.

I agree, the car is stunning. I have a friend that knows those cars who will be at that auction. If the OP wants him to check it out, let me know as I will put you in touch with him.
From the photos, description and history, I'm sure the black/red Z06 car is equally spectacular. As with my car, it is, IMHO probably the nicest car there. All that translates to lots of interest - maybe several high-dollar bidders, a really high price, and lots of money in Dana's pocket. This early in the search, on a car this expensive, I'd prefer not to have the car bid up or pay a high percentage to an action. Mike |
