How Much RWHp to Run 10.9x?
Given I have a Coupe with A4 & 3.42 gears, how much RWHP do I need to consistently run 10.9x in 3,500' DA? Engine will be N/A, no power adders.

Thanks. I'm basing my numbers on what I ran in my C7 but it looks like that may be a little high.
Ran 11.6 @ 122 with my 2016 with basically E85 and a tune. Really needed to work on my 60' (1.75). So to run 10.9x looked like I needed about 475whp. All my research suggests that the bar is surprisingly lower with a C5. |

10.2 on a 346, a lot is an understatment!!
Tell us more about your setup. |
The car was built to run the pro 10.50 index at the ECS Corvette Challenge when it was at Englishtown NJ. Built by Tommy at AMR.
I sold the car last year when I purchased my 2018 Z06. 2002 LS-6 block TrickFlow 215's Fast 92 EWP LS2 TB Fast fuel Rails 42# injectors ARH Headers & 3" X-pipe into Ti''s Custom Cam 248 / .648 6 point cage / 5 pt harness Hoosiers on Bogarts etc.. (had vacuum pump and was in process of tuning it when not much later the #7 piston fried. Installed forged LS1 and the tuning nightmare began. 2 years later I decided to sell the car to someone who I thought was going to run it but never did. It was 418 rwhp before the tuner got it. After tuning it made 426. After dialing in the vacuum pump it made 442 rwhp on a stingy mustang dyno. I felt in the right air it could have a 9 second pass in it.) See the quick list sticky at the top of the page, you can see the timeslip and a video in the Internal Engine Modifications - Head/Cam -> 346 category. The car also had a NANO nitrous kit installed on it. Never ran it but the other car I had had very similar numbers and went 9.511 at 141.94on a 100 shot. Both cars should have been able to do a 250 - shot without any problems. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...81910cefea.jpg |

Which is why I'm leaning towards a 427/441/454 build, trading cam lift/duration for CI. Mine will be a daily driver and needs to play nice in heavy traffic. |
Any other thoughts on this?

I ran a 10.9 on a cam only (BTR Stage 4) 2000. Yank ss4000, stock gears, fast 78, texas speed headers, vararam. Simple set up that works well. 17 inch tires as well. 1.48 60ft

475 will do it with a good set of tires. I made 480 rwhp with a 402 ci and ran 10.90 at 4500 DA. Went from 1.70 60 ft with et street ss to 1.50 with et street r.

Nice! I'd like to hear more on your cam and fuel system.
cnc 799 heads Fast 92 intake LS2 90mm throttle body Yank 3400 PA converter 3.42 gear Racetronix pump with hotwire kit 42# injectors Very docile on the street, great drive ability but 6.90 1/8 the mile and 10.92 at 124 mph in the 1/4 on pump gas. |
DA is a big factor. Heat is a killer.
480 rwhp and 2500 DA I was getting 11.3 et in Bowling Green. Sixty foot was high 1.5's. It was hot enough...maybe 80 degrees (cool to me living in Florida). Boom, back home to Florida, and I get a 42 degree night, I dropped to a 1.47 sixty foot and a 10.6 et. So much to factor in ….and I am not the greatest shifter with very little seat time. I am sure a good racer like Gary, Fartpipe or RobZ could have ran a 10.4 in my Z with 480 rwhp on a dyno jet. By the way, that was a 390 gear, MN12 tranny, ET streets on 17" rims. Rob/Gary and gang were hitting 1.3 sixty foot times with a 410 gear. |
