I hadn’t seen this picture before, so I expect a few others missed it, too.

Bad news for those expecting to put a golf bag in the front, but it’s very good news to someone like me. I can easily fit more than a suitcase in there (or groceries, etc.).

Kudos to GM for keeping the Corvette easy to daily drive.

Not sure what I’m looking at here. Are you referencing the tan area at the top left? Got a better pic that shows all of it?

That's the best image showing the Frunk ( Tan area)

ShagVette 01-09-2019 04:42 PM

Is that pic a snap shot/crop of another or, where did it come from?

RapidC84B 01-09-2019 04:50 PM

Came from the original Zerv CAD leak.

I'm not sure how you're how you're surmising that it's "decently sized" based on a mostly-cropped image/CAD rendering.

You can compare the size of the section of the trunk with the size of the headlamp, and we know the ballpark of the headlamps’s size. The claim of “decently sized” is a matter of opinion.

are you kidding?

Actually it appears rather shallow to my eyes.

Very interested to know why it can't go deeper. Air ducts? Suspension bits? Flux capacitor?

firstvettesoon 01-10-2019 08:25 PM

Decently sized as compared to a 488. Should be similar.

or 720.

Or somewhere in between.

A few more hints. The light brown piece in the top CAD drawing looks like maybe the shallow frunk? Yet on the bottom photo it looks like it may reach to the bottom of the structure.

But isn’t that area where the radiators are located and radiator air exhaust out through??

With the combined area of the front trunk and whatever they've come up with behind the engine (above the transmission and exhaust) I'd bet total cubic ft. wise it'll be real close to what the C7's capacity is.

But can it fit golf clubs???

No doubt that was the design goal: meet or exceed the C7's cargo volume. It won't be as practical since it isn't contiguous, but it will probably exceed the volume of any other mid engine sports car and look great on marketing material.

PS: I hope you've punched a few breathing holes in the frunk so your son doesn't suffocate while riding in it.

JoesC5 01-12-2019 11:39 AM

Not all Mid engine cars have frunks, like the 2019 NSX.

There don't appear to be any centrally located heat exchangers:

It's also part of the problem when you decide to add a bunch of garbage like electric motors, gearboxes, controllers and batteries in that space.

Apparently a lot of people that buy mid engine sports cars don't want all that garbage but instead would like space to carry lot's of crap, either on a road trip or to the golf course, so they pass on the NSX as a suitable vehicle for them.

I have seen posts on this forum made by those that want all that extra garbage(AWD hybrid, etc) on the Corvette mid engine. They had better watch what they ask for. 150-200 Corvettes annual sales like the NSX, and it's a dead model.
