ECO Mode?

I normally drive my '18 Grand Sport in the Sport Mode and I'm pretty happy with the performance and ride. Yesterday I went for a ride (~100 miles) and out of curiosity, put it in the Eco Mode. The ride softened a bit, but other than that, I couldn't tell much difference.

Can anyone tell me what is supposed to happen in the Eco Mode and what is gained or lost as far as performance or efficiency?

It puts the magnetic ride and e-diff in the same mode as Touring and it let's the engine go into 4-cyl mode more than it would in other modes. If you have an M7, this is the only mode where your engine will go into 4-cyl mode.

Yep. During steady highway cruising it drops into V4 mode and gets around 33 MPG while going 70 MPH. As soon as you apply any throttle it goes back to V8 mode so you can still pass other cars no worries. You can hear and feel the change, plus depending on DIC configuration you'll get a little green V4 icon.

I just wonder why it doesn't drop to V4 at idle, as that would save some go-juice as well.

Probably because the idle would be much too rough (and some people already mention that the LT1 idles rougher than they are used to)

When the engine shifts into 4 cylinder mode is there an indication on the drive display?

If you have an M7 just put your hand in the shifter knob. When it hits V4 you can feel the vibration. Because of that I don’t use it.
