Chevy should be like Tesla. Announce the base model ME Corvette for $49,999...

...and never actually make any of them for sale. But they could make headlines.

Well, it works for Musk. Every time.

It might not be much more than that actually.

Exactly. What is the difference between having the engine in front of the driver or just behind? We get the fact that it will have the laws of physics on its side vs. the current FE layout in the C7 or the cock eyed rear engine in the trunk of the 911.

Tell us how well does that work for Musk.

His company is bleeding money continuously and just a few (baby) steps ahead of going under. He is waay ahead if its time. :)

I see a lot of Tesla’s around the Chicago burbs. It must be some kind of factory option, I swear everyone of them is driven by a deuche bag. Tesla’s suck.

I can't remember the last time a day went by without seeing a Tesla here. The $35k Model 3 should be a decent little commuter car when it becomes available this year, it'll be nice not paying to ever fill it up thanks to the free charging at work. :)

Take away the government loans, subsidies and they would be in tip top shape:lol:

DaveFerrari458 01-10-2019 12:40 AM

Why not $39,999? Better yet, $29,999.

uh...there's no such thing as a $35K Model 3, except in Elon's mind 3 years ago

Hard to know if you're talking about GM and oil subsidies, or Tesla and EV subsidies, lol.

Don't forget to tally the cost of mideast oil wars into your oil subsidies.

Agreed, and that is the whole point. It was just a marketing ploy to get capital in the form of deposits and to pull the old bait and switch and sell people a small electric car for $55,000.

Indeed. In Car and Driver's "10 best" in the last issue, the Model 3 they DIDN'T select was $78,000

Or do the Porsche model and offer a STRIPPED car with a low MSRP...never mind that NO ONE (especially dealers) ever orders one that way.
It is shocking the items that are options on a Porsche come standard on a Corvette (previous gen Boxster/Cayman had halogen headlights standard, HID were optional. Been standard on Corvette since 2005)

It could very well be available this year as they continue to find ways to drop their manufacturing costs. Fortunately enough people are willing to invest into the idea of EVs and buy the more expensive version which funds the development of the cheaper version. It's been that way from the start with Tesla (Roadster -> Model S -> Model X -> Model 3 -> Model Y & Truck, etc)
