Spoiler help

I am really thinking about adding a spoiler, ZR1 style, to my 2006 vert. I am contemplating the one in the photo. Does anyone know if my stock third taillight will fit in this new spoiler. It does not come with a gasket, is a gasket required? Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated prior to my purchase. Thank you!

No gasket...3rd brake light uses the same mounting holes to secure it as the spoiler.

The rear spoiler in the photos don't appear to be the ZR1 style. The ZR1 style is not straight accross the top like the photos the OP posted.

Here is what the ZR1 style looks like ... notice that it's higher on the top sides than it is in the top center area:

Thats very good news, thanks Jchappies. I have been looking for months for just that right look for my "fly me friendly" Corvette. (that's what my greeting message is when I start it up. That one is perfect but it is NOS and they do not accept returns. Your car looks great Turbo, very rare color. I like the softer lines in the one I am going to purchase.

Enjoy your spoiler ...

:)

I have that very spoiler with the factory 3rd brake light in it on my z06.

Brenda1, I have the same spoiler you're looking to get and really like it.
IMO the Z06 type would be too much for my car.
Suggestion... make sure it's the correct red for your car.

Thanks for the good advise Oldcanuck. it is Victory Red part GM part number 19172808. Thank should do the trick. These things are very difficult to find as they are discountinued items and only people and companies with NOS have them. Took me quite a lot of looking to find that spoiler in that color. I got lucky!

Thats the "Ron Fellows" spoiler that originally came on his limited edition Z06. Super subtle but way nicer than the boring factory one.

Just one more question. I try to work on my own cars but do have limits to my skills. Is this a job that a normal weekend warrior can tackle to install it or should I take it to a body shop?
Removing taillights and original spoiler, no problem. Drilling holes in my precious...gets me nervous but seems doable.

jchappies 01-10-2019 06:11 PM

The first hole is the hardest....lol
Take some toothpaste or grease or something and dab it on the end of the spoiler bolts. Line up the 2 original hole\bolts and the others will mark where you need to drill. You can drill 1 or 2 sizes bigger if you have fitment issues and need to wiggle things around.
Watch the youtube videos too.

The install is a piece of cake. Did mine in about an hour - being very cautious. Suggest checking out the 3rd light before reinstalling as they have a problem with failure. Had to replace mine during the install.

jaybee, I have that spoiler on my 11. Had the ZR1 on my 06. 30 minute job on both. Drill, bit, star bit, and a couple of sockets. I grew up in East Brainerd. ;)

I used the four factory holes for the mounting and went to the parts store and bought narrow 3M two sided tape under the rest. Unable to see two sided tape. Just what I did four years ago.
