Pic posting issue across OSes, Browsers, etc.

No matter what I do posting pictures is a crap shoot. 99% of the time it doesn't appear to work. Do I really need to upload THEN go to album to go through the pics there? if I specify a pic why won't it just upload it in the relevant post right then and there instead of adding additional steps?

Step's I've taken.

1. Browse for picture to upload
2. Click upload
3. Pic uploads, percentage goes to 100%
4. Pic shows in preview pane below

At this point I have two options.
1. Click close which just closes the close option
2. Upload.which then closes the image upload window at which point it used to either A. place inline if an image or B. attach it if any other type of file.

The problem persists in the following

1. Chrome
2. IE
3. Edge
4. Firefox

The problem persists in the following OSes
1. Win 10
2. Win 7
3. Win server 2012-2019
4. Redhat Linux
5. Raspian

Well it supposed to do as stated and it does for many members. Your last thread, where some members posted attachments, was an example that it does work for some. Even though there are some members that have reported it not working correctly, which we do understand, keep in mind there's a couple hundred thousand members.

My first few questions are:
1) How long are you waiting for the upload process to finish where the code containing the uploaded image is inserted into the editor (message area)?
2) How many images are you trying to upload and what file sizes are they?

To clarify, uploaded images are uploaded to your album. The process then copies the URL/Address and inserts the proper IMG tag code into the editor (message area) to link from your album. In other words, there is a few processes that happen when uploading and depending on several factors (amount uploaded, size uploaded, your own network speed, Internet speed, server load, etc.,) will have a role in how slow or fast or even if the processes work.

I've waiting minutes. It is at 100% in less than 5 seconds however. The images are ~200kb so it shouldn't take more than a second or two. I was uploading 1 image. It seems when I upload it uploads it to an album and then I must go into that album to select the image now. Is this SOP?

It is normal for the uploaded images to go to the album under My Post Pictures as that's where they are "stored", however, it is not normal to go to the album to find them and copy/paste the URL into the message area of the post to make it work. Like I said, uploaded images are uploaded to your album and then the script copies the URL/Address and inserts the proper IMG tag code into the editor (message area).

Are you using the paperclip icon?

Yes, when I get a chance later I'll give you a step by step w/ screenshots so you can see what i'm doing vs. the result.

Ok very strangely these did not upload to gallery but then all the sudden they popped up in here. This is the FIRST time they have actually been shown inline in a LONG time. That makes little sense.

Next few times don't use the paperclip icon but instead the following from the same toolbar

Well that worked. Ok riddle me this, what is the difference here? Should I always use that icon for uploading images and use the paperclip for anything other than images? The UI for both seems to be the same.
