I've been waiting for this, thanks Mr. DeWitt!

I hope I don't get anyone in trouble for this, but this may help some members who are on the fence.

To get the (natural finish aluminum, manual transmission) radiator for my 80, WITH bungs added for temperature sensors/switches (I already have a DeWitt dual-Spal fan kit), here's what I was told:

Please order the radiator (32-1139077A) on our website. In the notes box please enter that you want 2 temp bungs added. We can do this for you at no extra charge.

So there you go.

Tom@Dewitt 01-15-2019 10:19 AM

No trouble, we do that all the time.

Best time to buy one! I bought mine last year during the sale and though I haven't had the car on the road yet I have broken in the engine and it's great having a cooling system better than stock in front of my L88 engine.

I've been waiting for this sale, I just ordered mine yesterday. Looking forward to not being paranoid about being in traffic like I am now.

No, the original for your application is the brass/copper unit (27.5") and the best way to restore that is to have it re-cored. The key to making this "correct" is to get the correct core or have the radiator shop doing the work transfer the original side channels, assuming you have a correct original radiator to start with.

With that said, I wouldn't do that if it was my car. Even though your goal is NCRS, the one deviation I would allow with my car is the radiator. The BB engines can tend to run hot in traffic and hot summer days and I prefer to have a robust system as apposed to a good system. The B/C in new condition is a good radiator, mainly because it is huge. But an aluminum radiator is going to be better under loaded conditions. I found that many (not all) NCRS judges do not pay a lot of attention to radiators and sometimes a good looking replacement slips by. But even if it doesn't pass, the point deduct isn't going to change the outcome of the award level. A top flight car has to have so many things right that a wrong radiator isn't going to change that. I painted a car frame in black gloss epoxy, knowing it wasn't right and I would get hit for it but I still gained top flight three times, including a 98 point national. Get the 1249069M model radiator which is the HP version in Black Ice coat. You will enjoy the car the other 364 days of the year.

Tom DeWitt;

I have been trying almost all week to order either a center replacement core or a whole radiator from DeWitts. Looking for a radiator for 72, base motor, 4-speed with A/C, either a complete copper radiator or a center core. Everytime I call, I get transfered to a voice mail, somebody called John, and never get a call back. Are you guys really that busy? Or, don't you have anything to offer. Either way, a return phone call would be appreciated.

Monday, I'll probably order a core through the radiator shop, have the top and bottom plates made by a sheet metal shop locally, have them install the old tanks.

Sorry, we switched over software systems this month and it has really caused issues. We use to offer these correct copper cores but it really didn't compliment our aluminum radiator business. The company that made them for us is below and you can purchase these directly Heatex Radiator

Tom, Thanks for the sale and advice you give out. I placed order #3615 and having it shipped to my UPS store address not my billing address. Hope it's not a big issue, it keeps the porch pirates away.

AJC 69 BB 01-27-2019 08:21 AM

Order placed #3620
