Behind the scenes at GM

Forgive me if this has been posted before. It's a very old article but I thought it was interesting in the context of the C8. It's very likely that a very similar process is being used to develop and test the C8 right now. It seems we're in the phase where GM employees are driving the cars to shake out bugs (like the electrical issue). The public release was soon to follow this phase.

Again, sorry if this is old news. I just thought it was interesting.

Great article!

"Over the course of C7 development, a total of 86 were built. “We had to fight to get those 86 cars,” said Holder of budgetary battle with those controlling the purse strings."

- wonder how it is now...

Thanks for the link. Really interesting reading. We haven't gotten to the "captured test fleet"stage yet which will occur after the release so the C8 can be driven in public without camo.

cool read

just like the book ''all corvettes are red'' ,about the c5 cars

they're obviously going to just keep getting more and more and more complex with each generation's development. one hell of a monumental coordinating in each recipe which makes it all the more amazing how the end result turns out to be so stellar considering how many things could possibly go wrong along the way. how trippy it must feel to be one of the privileged ones who are "in the know" of the major chunks years in advance of launch. and what a colossal chore it must be to maintain confidentiality and prevent leaks.

thanks for the read OP. interesting piece!

PPVs were built last summer and you all have been enjoying spy photos of them on the streets or at a certain German track. The test process has changed a little since the C7, with PPVs playing a larger role to ensure testing of vehicles built on the line that will produce them.

Loved the fake round tail lights. Wonder how much of the C8 camos are fake. You know, those cars everyone is judging as the "real thing."
