Help me with Racing seats please

I’m wanting to buy my brother a set of light weight racing seats for his C6Z soon. I’ve tried finding the answers online but can’t find a straight answer.

My questions are:

1. I’m wanting a set of light weight seats to swap in while racing and be able to swap back out when done.

2. Or if the above isn’t an option a set of comfortable enough lightweight seats to leave in.

3. How do I take care of any airbag codes?

I don’t want to spend 2000+ on a set of Caravaggio but I think there are some options well priced and good-looking options for Sparco or Corbeau.

Also PLEASE POST PICS!

I can't help you, but you may find that you will get better results if you post over in the C6 Tech/Performance section.

I'm going to assume the racing is dragstrip, since light weight is the main reason and comfort or body control is not a big concern.
I bought the seat and the extremely thin cover from Jegs. I don't remember if there were mounts included or if I paid extra. After several times of swapping with the stock seat, I made my own mount that attaches to the OEM studs and included mounting locations for a 6 point harness. The mount is a formed steel plate with steel tubing. All together, it weighs 26#. I can swap out the #52 OEM seat and install the race seat in less than 10 minutes.

1&2 aren’t questions, they’re a statement so I’m not really sure what you’re asking. If you can clarify that’d help us. What kind of racing? Sanctioned? “Street”? Drag?

3. These will prevent the airbag light. Depends which trim you have and/or if you want you steering wheel to still be able to telescope. http://www.vetteworksonline.net/cata...x.php?cPath=29

Here’s a thread with some setups. Mine is posted on page 3.

Consider buying seats from Europe. I saved over $300 on 1 OMP seat including shipping by buying from there.

Race seats are hard to buy, they all fit slightly differently and its a very personal fit. I could drice in OMP WRC seats all day, but my friends and father HATE them, and theyre about the same sizd as me.

You really have to sit in a ton of them to find the right ones.

Yep, begin with finding a racing seats that fits your brother to start with.

From here, brackets can be made to fit OEM bolting, and simulators can be installed to bypass the needed air bag options to swap the seats in and out as needed.

As for race seats, if you find one that fits him to start with, it can be padded/reworked to make is more comfortable longer durations, deleting the point of having to swap seats in and out as needed isntead. The down side will be a race seat with side head support, that you don't want to run on the streets since it will block your side veiw.

for road racing and daily driving of my C6Z, I went with Corbeau A4s with the adjustable rails. Price was right and included the airbag jumper. bolted in to the stock studs.

For price and weight it's hard to beat the Sparco Sprint 5. Had them in my road race mustang. Great support and can be had from $250-400 depending on color. 18lbs total weight. Track down another seat base to mount them to and you're set.

I went with the leather corbeau a4s. Good fit in the car, good price-$1100 for the pair with seat bases and sliders. I recently painted the seatbelt holes machine silver. They really keep you planted.

I decided to go with a single Tillet Carbon Fiber B5 seat.

what seat mount did you use? I’m thinking about getting the same seat.

I just got a set of the Corbeau FX1 Pro seats along with their brackets and camlock harnesses. Just waiting on the sharkbar and airbag sims to get here to complete the install. They are comfortable seats and also hold you in with no issue.

Corbeau brackets definitely give you enough material to change things up.
