The only thing I hate in the C8's interior

Is this seat belt's lock.

As I've said. Interior is very impressive and looks very expensive, but damn this lock looks so simple and cheap.
It does not match to this beautiful interior.

If those are the nits you have to pick to find fault with this, I'd say they're doing pretty good.

KCV 01-11-2019 07:15 PM

Well, we have to find something to nitpick. ;)

ArmchairArchitect 01-11-2019 07:15 PM

Agree with both of you.

I wouldn't take a Pre-production model at face value.

I get where you're coming from, but if the seat belt buckle is the only thing GM pulls out of the common parts bin, we're probably doing pretty good here.

I hope this is a preproduction model. Anyway interior looks very nice.

The ME has not even finished its PPV (Pre Production Validation) phase, has not had tons of its parts certified production ready.

How many of the parts we are seeing in the CarScoops pictures are not production certified? The answer is.... many.

The seat belt receiver could be really nice in the production car.

oemtech 01-11-2019 07:22 PM

Maybe a gold trimed combination lock would be to your liking.

ssidekickbp 01-11-2019 07:31 PM

That, really? I find that leather covered pad over the knob to be the most awkward and out of place item myself.....

Supermassive 01-11-2019 07:50 PM

The seat belt receiver is likely a placeholder. This particular car was set up with a 5 point harness as evidenced by the slit cut into the seat in the crotch region.

FrankLP 01-11-2019 08:45 PM

LOL... I'm guessing you're joking. :D

Doesn't bother me at all... actually looks on par to the LaFerrari's:

All seat belts are government regulated and have to be a certain way. They really can't change much outside of the colors.

Shrike6 01-12-2019 11:19 AM

Ok. How about where are the air vents?

mammoth713 01-12-2019 01:57 PM

My first impression is the divider up the center with the buttons looks too large and like an afterthought..

If you were sitting in passenger seat it probably feels cramped because of it

Otherwise I like the interior

I'm more concerned with the lack of a manual shifter location. I'm hopeful there's a different console for the manual cars that we haven't seen yet.

JustinStrife 01-12-2019 07:58 PM

I'm not a fan but that's just one opinion.

I don't think your going to see a manual in the C8.

With a well sorted DCT there no need for a manual transmission.

Once all thethe nay sayers actually drive a V8 with well sorted DCT you will see a lot of opinions of the need for a manual will go away.

Getrag 7 speed DCT in my 458 is the best transmission I ever driven.

Absolutely smooth a silk in Auto and give you complete control in manual mode with lighting fast up and down shifts.

This same people that think the A8 is comparable to a well sorted DCT will find that there is no comparison.

The A8 has lazy shift in any mode and cannot be compared to a high end DCT.

I recommend to all those please go text drive a 911 GT 3 or a Ferrari 458/488. Truly the best of both worlds.

Those are cars that cost 3-5x what a corvette costs. The DSGs in the Audi’s would probably be a better benchmark for what GM can offer and I found those to be very undesirable. We went back to BMW after the DCT experience.
