69 Tuxedo Black L88s at Mecum
Two Tuxedo Black 69 L88s just sold for less than $500k each at Mecum. A couple years ago these were fetching $750k with people asking $900k or more. This means realistic pricing for solid L88s with nice pedigree but less desirable colors should be about $300-$350k with less pristine and less desirable colors valued at $200-$275k.

Dale427, that really surprised me. I think if they would have sold them separately they could have brought a bit more individually. But to your point the prices are way down from where they were just a few years ago. Also, the Mecum prices in Florida are a bit all over the place with some cars bringing crazy money while others are struggling to hit reserves....

I know nothing of the coupe but there is not much left of the original convertible from when it rolled off the line at GM

A 1971 Ontario orange ZR-2 just went over the block, it was a no sale at $380,000 and went to the "Bid goes on" section!! |
That ZR2 has gone through the auctions a number of times in the past. I think it bid to 500k or 600k back when the Mecum auction was at Bloomington Gold. Seems like the high end, low production c3's are down a bit right now from where they have been historically....

The Black convertible was ordered new by Tony DeLorenzo and is one of the only documented triple black 69 L88's to exist. In contrast, a 1968 triple black L-88 fetched 800K in the past. It had the original motor which the 69 convertible doesn't, but still surprised the 69 convertible didn't go for more....
