My son has the 3.5 it is great for towing! He tows a Sea Ray 35 footer with no problems and it is great on gas.Just check the heater controls blend doors are still a problem with Ford!

Thats a lot of boat for a truck rated to tow approximately 12,000 pounds.
What does the boat/trailer weigh in at?

He's gonna be over. Doesn't mean you can't do it, you shouldn't...

Really nice truck. I recently upgraded due to moving up in boat a few sizes...

These 3.5 eco boost motors with 370 gears will tow up to 15,000 minus people and cargo The trailer weight has to be considered but i believe Ford is being conservative in there numbers.Plus all around town 17 mpg, now this is not in four wheel drive. Hey i get 20 with a Lexus RX330 with 140,000 miles on it and its all wheel drive These Fords have come a long way and it is the 3.5 turbo that towes the markj

Beautiful truck! You might want to consider adding an oil catch can.

From Fords web site:

"The F-150 can tow more than any other pickup in its class, gas or diesel.* The available second-generation 3.5L EcoBoostŪ twin-turbo V6, at 375 horsepower and top-rated* 470 lb.-ft. of torque, has the best-in-class** conventional tow rating of 13,200 lbs"

I own a 2017 F150 with the same motor. No way would I ever tow even close to 13,000 pounds with it. Even if you have the 3.5 eco you still need the 3:73 gears and the option heavy duty payload option which gives the truck a 3,000 pound capacity.

Thanks for the replies. I really like the truck. I kind of bought it on a whim. Probably should of done a bit more research on towing capacities but I don't think I should have a problem. I'm not a hard core racer. A catch can is on the radar. Viewing the truck forums I do see where published towing should be viewed with a grain of salt. I all depends on the options on the truck and the payload you tow with it.

They are generally good trucks. Mine is a 4x4 with the 3.5 eco and 3:55 gears and I average 20-21 mpg since buying it. Unfortunately it has a vibration between 40-55 that Ford has been unable to repair so they are buying it back. I'll replace it with another Ford but this time a Super Duty.
My F150 is without a doubt the quickest truck I ever owned. It would smoke my old V8 Tundra.
