Is this the best C1 1957 Corvette - X-Sonic built by Ron Aguirre
There's a thread on here that looks at C2 modification in period; and Googling one thing lead to another and I came across this car - I like the C1's but prefer the C2's and especially the Pickett Racing C2 - in tooling around on the web under custom cars came across a few by the legendary George Barris; but this car built by Ron Aguirre, I think tops them all. Over time this car changed style quite a bit, but my favourite version is Pic (1) - the styling, the blue pastel paint, the period 60's chrome wheels and whitewalls, the slant of the hood reminiscent of a Mercedes Gullwing, the fenders reminiscent of a Ferrari Testa Rosa, and four tail pipes reminiscent of a C7 ….. any way, thought I would post some pics and some links to what I think is a very cool and desirable car. - Best Regards GV

Must be brutal in there on a summer day.

I remember that car back when it was built. To me, it was too radical then and it's too radical today. The original 56-57 styling was perfect then and remains so today. You just cannot beat it.

Yes; I like the original styling too, and you're right, it is a radical car for it's time, but I also think it's a very nice looking car in its' own right, there's a lot of innovation built into that car, it's a ground breaking car that bought a lot of ideas to people's attention, it has some great styling, very clean lines, and great paint. - Cheers GV

I enjoy the old hot rods and customs, it's interesting what they did back in the day. Different times, different ideas.

I admire the effort and execution and no it's not my taste and I would not want to own it. |
