2016 Z07 LT4 blower results

Weapon X completed the build & tune on my 2016 Z07 auto trans car last Thursday and I am very pleased with the results. The Dyno tuning was on Weapon X's Mustang dyno and readings are in SAE. The car is a 8 speed auto with 1.7 OEM blower. The following mods are done:

1. 18% lower pulley with Griptec stock size upper pulley
2. AFE intake with high flow filter
3. Fasterproms ram air
4. Mamo ported 95mm TB
5. Weapon X ported blower & snout
6. Fasterproms aux intercooler tank
7. Cordes intercooler heat exchanger
8. 160 degree thermostat
9. Fasterproms thermal insulators between SC & heads
10. Alky Control single nozzle (15GPH) pre boost meth kit with Weapon X 1.5 gallon rear cubby meth tank
11. MTI low side fuel pump kit
12. GM dual fuel kit
13. ATI gauge
14. Borla mid pipe
15. Stock exhaust manifolds with cat delete SS connector pipes

The car is making 14 PSI boost and made 704 RWHP & 782 RWTQ on 93 octane Shell with meth injection. The car made 742 RWHP & 803 RWTQ on 50% E-85/50% 93 pump with meth injection. We were at a safe safety margin on the injectors at 50% E-85. We could have increased the E-85% by adding a second meth nozzle. The blower snout was ported for 103mm & the adaptor between the 95mm TB & blower was matched 95m X 103mm. This allows me to go to a 103mm TB later if I wish.

Did you run the dyno in 5th or 6th gear? Great results. That definitely shows the smaller LT4 blower can do some damage! Awesome!

Congrats - Yes, very impressive numbers with stock headers.

What do you think it would dyno without meth?

Are the heat exchanger and tank required for these mods or are you going to track/drag race the Z07?

The stock exhaust manifolds flow really well, the restriction is in the link pipes with the primary cats. I did not feel that LT headers were worth the extra money and instillation hassle. Opinions vary on this subject but I stand by my decision.

Can't say what it would dyno without meth as we tuned with meth. I think it would have made 680 to 685 without the meth at 14 PSI boost.
I did all the cooling mods before anything else as from my reading on this forum I knew heat would be a real problem after the HP adders. The meth & E-85 also really help with charge cooling. My plans are for street use and some 1/4 mile & 1/8th mile racing next summer.

Headers add a lot of surface area for heat to be radiated from the exhaust as well. Keeping the cast manifold with a cat delete pipe helps remove restriction and heat.

Do you know if they ran the dyno in 5th or 6th? Asking because most places seem to run the dyno in 5th gear which is not the 1:1 gear ratio and as a result, tend to show HP a little low and TQ a little high.

I didn't answer your question because I am not sure and I was standing there watching. I will ask Ben the next time I see him when I pick up the car. The dyno is a Mustang and readings were SAE.

That is incorrect, 5th gear runs read lower. 6th is 1:1 which is what we do baseline and final pulls with. We just did a 93 octane heads/cam Z06 two weeks ago and it made about 710-720whp. This setup with E50 and meth brings it home! If he added another meth nozzle we could've ran full pump E and made a little bit more even!

btw - I am running the Maggie on my other LT1 and running just shy of 800whp (cam, headers, e85). I did bump it to about 830whp, but ran out of injector so I dialed it back.

On my Vette, I am really digging your setup because my objectives are a bit more mild.

I am am thinking about your LT4 blower setup for 700 to 750bhp. My biggest issue is that I do not want to change things on the exhaust side so that I can keep my Vette sounding stock. It is officially my daily driver.

Hit me up! Our stage 1 and 2 kit reuse the OEM cats as well. ;)

You got some Great result I’m walking baby steps to that set up with my car not a Z06 but GS with LT4 blower headers intake and a tune. Love the ppwer out of the LT4

Very good results.

Hogurt, I brought the car home to Louisville from Weapon X in Cincinnati today. First time I drove it and it was 28 degrees with intermittent moisture on the interstates. With the dual mode mufflers the car is louder at idle without the front cats but when moving honestly I cannot tell any difference with the car in tour. Had to keep a cap on the fun today with the cold temps and damp roads. Half throttle resulted in major boost and no traction. Damn, the torque comes on fast with this setup. Should be major fun when we get warm weather and some traction.

What a great setup. Really impressive. Yeah, you are gonna need some dr’s on the street because otherwise traction is tricky. I found that on the street around 700whp is pretty fun on the highway...when you go closer to 800whp traction becomes problematic.

When temps dropped to 60’s I was completely spinning tires in 4th gear (no shifting)...at 50-60-70mph. At 80mph it still was scary, but able to hold though 4th.

I actually came back back from that logging run and told Ted I was done until next summer. Changed the pulley to drop some boost (from 15psi down to 10) and put the car in the garage for winter. At 10psi, I was running about 740whp. When I get the car out again, I will probably get new tires and then go through some testing, starting at 8psi (715whp).

First world problems

Thanks and I have a set of 345 X 19 Nitto NT05R's mounted on 12 X 19 rims in my garage waiting on warmer weather. Probably not as sticky as MT's but they are better than the stock Michelins. Need to get used to this new setup before I make any more changes.

I have similar set up and made 740 hp but I could only run 40% E. With the stock LT4 set up
any more and fuel pressure would drop off. - maybe because u are running meth

Yes I think the meth is the reason. I have been advised I should run a dual meth nozzle setup and I plan on trying that later this spring.
