The split-window thing might have been confirmed
Right in front of our eyes.
1. Check out the picture where the rear is open and see a T-shaped element 2 Now go and look at the pattern of the front seats There ya go. I believe this is not the only place where we meet this T-bar. Think as a designer. |
I kind of see what I think you're referencing in the seat, but I'm not sure what there could be in the rear hatch:

I really hope it's not a split window... not sure how you make that design work with modern styling. If it is, I hope the designers are talented to pull it off.

Not going to put the picture in the OP?

OP, I agree. The “thong” is going to be a repeating shape in the design language. Whether it extends all the way through the engine cover, or only embellishes say the top quarter, is the question. |
I see it now... that shape in the seats jives with the shot at the ring with the hatch open and the sun coming through a little.

I believe the OP is suggesting these design elements on the seats.:flag: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...99c5dbcbf.jpeg |

Just noticed this pic in detail and saw something interesting. Look closely at the before and the highlighted in blue scribble. Sorry freehand on iPhone. If you look closely it looks like the sun is shining through the rear hatch and looks like a split rear window.

This could be the bottom of the "thong" & it could extend up under that cover & flare out a little under the rear camera.

thread needs more thong.

I haven't seen enough evidence to support a real argument that there is a center bar on the rear glass of the vehicle, thus creating a split window. That said, absent real news, we can play the speculation game and wander into the weeds.
1) We know there is a rear facing camera in the upper rear glass area of the hood cover. It would look odd to put a camera in the middle of the glass by itself. A bar running down the middle would provide you with an easy cover to hide any wiring and create a nice subtle housing for such a camera. 2) The overall design of the car thus far does not connect itself well with Corvettes of the past. The side scoop (unless bs) does not seem to fit the curve of the 58' to 62' design. Right now we are left with a vague resemblance to the C7 in the headlights and taillights. So, if they want to connect the car to the past, a split window is something that fans have wanted to see return for years. Given that visibility out of the rear glass will likely already be compromised due to the mid-engine design, why not go all in with a camera to see out the back and put in a split window for a bit of style. Could be the styling pizzazz that the car needs. 3) Glass is heavy. Chevy would be foolish to not make the hood see thru, so you have to find a way to keep the weight down while also making it so people can see their engine. A center carbon fiber strip would allow you to see the engine from the left and right while adding strenght and dropping weight in the middle of the hood. So...it is entirely possible that we have a split window design coming and perhaps even logical. |
As much as I like about the C2 ‘Split Window’ and C3 ‘T-Tops’ being on the C8 ME, the pictures below still need to be explained. Could these two pics be of the ME HT, ala 488, without the Split Window effect, and what we may be decussing here is the C8 ME Coupe with the Split Window? Or just no Spilt Window on either ME. Offered to discuss here with more information then we’ve had in the past :flag: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...ed1d8eeee.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...82b7a9bb0.jpeg |
