I was at BJ yesterday and I’m sure I saw it there. IIRC it had less than 2k miles if it’s the one I’m thinking of. $185k? Wow. |
I'm live streaming and saw that. Crazy! I went back to check and they show it at $203,500.00 . Not sure what's up with that. I checked a car that was a real idiot purchase and it was at what I saw it hammer for. But yeah it was a 72 LT1 with one repaint.

Now you’ve got me wondering. You’re probably right though as the one I saw with the low mileage had the hood closed and I didn’t look that closely at the interior.

A friend had a 30000 mile original 72 LT1, factory A/C car, but it was also a coupe, not a convertible. Wish I could have come up with the cash to buy it when he sold it, for a fraction of what this one went for.

It has to make anyone who owns a '72 LT1 with A/C feel really good but does it represent a real world value or is it an anomaly? :skep:

There was 1741 LT1 optioned Corvettes in 1972. Using extrapolation, probably around 400 of those that were convertibles. A/C was introduced in the later part of production, probably around March or April, so there was probably around 100-200 A/C roadsters (maybe much less). Bottom line, a 1972 A/C LT1 roadster is a very low production, rare car.

Hope the bidders didn't think they were buying the 2000 MI Ed Foss one. My 70 LT-1 sold 3 years ago for 71,500.00 with the buyers 10%. It was origional paint & interior with 19000 MI but has the frame restored & exhaust ETC replaced due to bad storage as it was a Michigan car.

I suspect that the buyer had too many free beverages, or thought he was bidding on the former Ed Foss car.
This one that sold yesterday (Thursday) has issues under the hood as well as with paint and interior. No mileage or awards indicated in the ad or anywhere else. There is nothing to suggest it deserves the selling price when compared to other similar cars. The seller is hopefully the happiest person in Scottsdale right now. Ed's former car has yet to be sold. |
