1975/1976-1977 interior
Hey all, I have a ‘75 stingray and I’m interested in doing white interior but for specific ‘75 interior parts online, I don’t see white but mostly grey. I do see white for ‘76-77 would those work for a ‘75? such as pillars, dash parts, center/ebrake, t top interiors. Not the seats or door panels |
The 76-77 white interior package was white leather upholstery on the seats and white door panels. Everything else was carpet color, so you're not likely to find white trim pieces. 76 shown.

Easy Mike is correct. The Trim pieces do not come in white. However, if you started with gray/silver or saddle (or maybe any color), you can "dye" these pieces fairly easily. Extensive cleaning, a white spray dye, and then clear (probably a couple coats). It held up pretty well in my 75 prior to sale. The parts you wouldn't want to dye are high friction/traffic pieces like seats, armrests, door cards, etc. Luckily those come in white.
I sprayed a flat gray dash black and it held up very well. Freshened the old silver with new silver; really freshened it up. I originally sprayed the seats, too. They looked good in two tone for about a year, then the black started to wear off, so I sourced some 76 black leather seats that you see in the second picture below. There are entire threads here where guys shot the whole interior... a black one comes to mind. The pillar pieces, back window moldings, etc don't get a whole lotta contact / wear so they should last very well after a spray. I did not do this, but I was happy with the results nonetheless. Most important parts of the job are cleaning the surfaces and avoiding overspray. I've heard really good things about "Colorbond" as an interior dye, but if I remember right I used rattle can SEM stuff. Side Note: At one point, I tried to squeeze a 76 dash into my 75. It might have been that particular dash, and there all tight anyway, but the 76 would'nt go. Good luck. I love the white interiors (especially with blue cars) but man are they ever tough to keep clean.:thumbs: |

Carpet question
Hi guys— new to this. Saw discussion about interior colors so though I’d post a question of my own. I hope that’s okay. I have a 76 with Firethorn red interior. I’m restoring / refreshing it including carpet. The carpet looks to have a much longer pile than ordinary plush pile. I got samples from Stock Interior and the plush pile they offer isn’t the same as what came stock ( I know it’s stock because the manufacturers tag was on the backside of the carpet in the car) I am thinking what was in the car was Ultra Plush— which Stock Iteriors doesn’t offer in Firethorn. I would prefer to go back with th original Ultra Plush. 1) Can anybody confirm an ultra plush was originally offered in Firethorn in 1976? (Or am I just high) 2) Does anybody have a source I might try? Thanks in advance! John |
