1970 Corvette Convertible

If you missed out on the 70 gold convertible that was for sale on the forum, looks like you have a second chance to get it: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-C3-Cor...%7C1000%7C2500

Guess the guy who lived down the block that bought it wants to do a quick flip...

sbaba 01-20-2019 02:24 PM

Looks like it was a dealer.

And it's not a correct color for a 70. Bummer about that.

You snooze you loose

that was probably one of the best cars for the money on here in a long time. Right along with all the adds on here looking for a car just like it.

Its not the correct color....People get to hung up on matching number vettes.....I mean a 63,an L-88 a tri power car, sure its better if its matching numbers.....Have seen many C-3 with powerful crate motors and better paint jobs than showroom which I rather have than an L-48,L-82 any day of the week..

Matching numbers and correct color for the year is apples and oranges. I had a much harder time selling my 67 because of the color change and it was a correct color for a 67 (Goodwood Green to Sunfire Yellow). When a car is painted a color that wasn't even used for the year it was made, it hurts the value. I wouldn't have a problem buying a car with a replacement engine but it is painted a color from another year (with maybe the exception of black), I wouldn't want it. And the car in this thread is gorgeous.

If I didn't have my C3 convertible I would def take a look at this car.....The color wouldn't bother me.....I rather have a great paint job that wasn't the original color than a car that had the original color that looked like garbage......A nice paint job on a C3 vette can get real pricey....Plus a 383 stroker will out perform the original 350..

That was definitely the deal of the year and its a shame that someone bought it just to flip it quick without even having to touch it. It was hard to tell from sight unseen but looked like a steal for that money!!

Anybody know what it sold for when listed on here?

That car was one block from me. It sold for $15K and there are reasons why it sold that low. The car is now only 15 minutes from my house.

Paint and body...or mechanical issues?

Mechanical. Engine severely overheated this summer due to a bad heater core while in traffic. Engine never ran the same since. Carpet is toast due to the leakage. This is what the owner told me over the phone. I passed on the deal.

Hmm...I guess that explains it.....Sharp looking car though..Reasonably priced convertible stingrays are hard to come by....If the body is solid and interior can be cleaned up it still looks like a good deal if the seller is willing to negotiate....Pull out the motor and go with a 383 crate motor with a warranty and wa la, you have a nice strong cruiser that will turn heads..

Sucks
wonder if new owner will make full disclosure?

rnich56 01-25-2019 04:14 PM

Yep. I feel bad for the person who bought that car. Lack of full disclosure is a real bummer.

cv67 01-25-2019 06:30 PM

id imagine if the guy was a dealer he would have to disclose known defects. Wonder if it was really fixed....ebays a great place to sell cars to people that cant view them. Just dont know what youre getting anymore
These cars are super old, they have to be seen and driven. Even a restored one does, who knows if it was well done or thrown together with some rattle can over rust?
