Service manual options

I have opportunity to buy a set of 3 service manuals for 2002 (cheap) however ,my car is an 01 and

I don’t know if there are any wiring or other differences between the two years .My other option is an eBay manual on cd for 16 bucks but I’m skeptical of it being a general overview and not as specific .Has anyone bought one of these cds? I’m leaning toward the books and maybe trading them for correct year . Thanks In advance

Is there something specific you need from the manual?

Just preparing for the inevitable

Mainly wondering about body control module differences.I do have some intermittent codes ..I plan on cleaning grounds seeing if it helps and a manual of my own would be nice . Thanks for the reply

I can possibly scan something and upload it for you if you need it now. What year? And you just want me to look for BCM info?

What a nice offer

theres nothing I need right now but thanks so much !!! It’s 20 degrees here in Missouri and I’m not that motivated. Mine is base 01 6 speed w/z51 and is most fun car I’ve had.

Some things do change from year to year. To be on the safe side I'd get the one that's specific to your year as in a FSM.

I bought new manuals (3) from EBAY specific to my car for $80. Money well spent IMO.

I agree. The changes may be minor in many cases, but knowing my luck they would be just enough to cause me problems.

Thanks to everyone

I think I’ll refrain from being such a tightwad and buy the 01 manual I was pretty sure no changes between 01 and 02 but thought I read of another stability control Change in 03 or 04. What about the cd from eBay anyone try it?

I would really NOT buy one of those CDs from eBay. I know they're super cheap but one of the things people need to realize is vendors that offer the replacement manuals do so under a GM license (part of the reason why they're so expensive). They're not allowed to reproduce service manuals just for the absolute heck of it and to try and make money. By buying those CDs you're cutting into the sales of the physical manuals which = eventually will lead to them simply not being offered as the vendor cannot re-coop investment. Additionally some of those sellers offer CDs that do not include the really detailed wiring schematics, for example, so you're missing out.

I have the full set of paper manuals for my 98. My mechanic has used them many times on different years C5.
