Did GM model the C8 from this?

I think it could just be that gm essentially did a revamp of a very popular mid engine platform to come up with the c8.

they got rid of Pontiac in order to do so. they took the old plans from the fiero and juiced them a bit, added modern touches and this is why it wont be nywhere close to $169,000 entry fee.

Serious?

DaveFerrari458 01-28-2019 09:51 PM

Absolutely! They benchmarked the Fireo! Nothing makes more sense than this! You are a very sharp person OP in coming up with this thesis! You should be very proud of yourself for being so smart! Meanwhile in sports news, the Patriots are seeking advisement from my middle school football team playbook for Sundays Super Bowl.

its the only me gm ever did. it was revolutionary. it was a swing and miss, but it worked for a while.

Don’t know, haven’t seen the C8 yet.

My wife & I were in Maine last month, and not joking, I saw 4 Fieros & they looked to be in pretty good shape.

Did you guys hear the new leak? GM is resurrecting all Fieros from junkyards across the country, slapping Vette badges on them, LED lights and an infotainment screen. That's the real C8.

I've had several vettes, C4's, C5's, C7Z, and will be getting a go fast C8. . . I've also owned several Fieros. . .In fact, I was getting bored waiting for the C8 so I picked this up this weekend just to tinker with before my C8. . .

They have absolutely NOTHING in common.

I had 3 trouble free years with a 88 GT and the next owner got 10 years with regular maintenance and replacement of what one might expect. I very much liked that car and had a lot of fun with it.

All that being said I hope GM rembers the lesson learned from the Fiero, ya gatta get this right from the beginning. Early 84 thru 87 were parts bin cars that just didn't work all that well together, they were best described as sporty looking, good milage, could carry golf clubs and went really well in the snow. Not great handling, oil leaks, leading to fires in some instances and rocker issues set the first impression and the improvements made in 88 just were not enough to overcome those first impressions.

I'm happy to see GM taking whatever time they need to sort out any and all issues they discover. Let's be real here, they dont have to hurry, the C7 is an outstanding example of Corvette, no need to rush with that in the stable.

That's extraordinary. It was right under our noses the whole time. Thanks for sharing. GM is going to be pissed of with you.

You're drunk. Go back to bed.

I've never been to Maine but my sister adopted a Maine Coon from the shelter and it's a beautiful cat, also my neighbor when i was growing up had a Fiero (but no Maine Coon). Last time i rode in that car was 30 years ago - longer than the lifespan of a Maine Coon - it's probably dead too.
