Why not have two C8s?

I think GM would be wise to continue to offer the front engine Corvette and also a mid-engine under the Cadillac brand. Why not expand the lineup and keep the core of loyal fans?

...because that would then not be a c8 ! Under the Cadillac brand it is not a Corvette...

Don't start another thread on this. There are several threads in this section already currently discussing this topic. About another 20 that have died too.

Why not have two C8 forum sections where we can rehash all of the same topics over and over again?

My suggestion from November

REALLY????? Another new thread on this is ridiculous. Virtually every damned thread in the C8 section covers this topic.

Do you think the C8 will be revealed at Los Angeles, New York, Dubai, Geneva, Tokyo, Puerto Rico...?

But what about the possibility that the ME is actually a Caddy? I saw a FOB that looked like a Caddy FOB with a front and rear opener? :leaving:

Why not three or four? Maybe even a dually.

RapidC84B 01-31-2019 02:57 PM

Because.

Red67John 01-31-2019 03:00 PM

Another redundant thread but...

It would be difficult to identify what the “core of loyal fans” is because many Corvette enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the ME Corvette, others will never adapt to anything other than a three pedaled V8 FE Corvette, and there are those who only appreciate the earlier Corvettes. Regardless of preferences, they are all loyal fans to “their” Corvette.

There will almost certainly be only one C8 Corvette and it will apparently be ME, totally replacing the C7 (hence the generational jump to C8). There simply is not now, and never will be, enough market to support production of more than one Corvette. I do think it’s fair speculaiton that there could be a Caddy version of the ME platform at some point, possibly even electric motored, because the new prez of GM is a booster of the Corvette, the Cadillac brand, and EV development.

As far as a reveal... that’s anyone’s guess today, but in reality the location will be based in some measure on the timing of when GM declares the car 100% ready for production.

Well, in terms of considering this from an internal perspective, Corvette isnt going to dress a Corvette for Cadillac, Cadillac will have to make it's own business case for it, and pay for it. I think Cadillac is struggling to really figure out what it's doing because the brand is really in limbo in a big way. I think Cadillac surely has intentions because they've invested in the DPi program with IMSA...so, they've laid the marketing groundwork and the investment.

I definitely think Cadillac will retry the "XLR" recipe like they did prior, when the time is right. My predictions of that date back some time...but Caddy would use their own motor, and I suspect they'll do an electrified/hybrid version. Caddy has been aiming at BMW a lot, but it doesn't seem that's worked for them...as good as the ATS was, there is just so much battle for that 3series/Lexus is350/Merc C class space...they just can't cut it. Caddy needs to come out early with a beasty sport SUV, and go electric asap, then pump out a mid-engine real techy car. I don't think they have the means to do it all though....so...who knows.

If you want to be picky, like the above sentence, you should know that a Corvette is a small destroyer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corvette

The front engine "C7" platform is going to migrate into a premium sport SUV, that's where the market is (Cayenne, Urus, etc). Front engine sport SUV, and a mid-engine sports car. Offer both, that's how you increase total sales coming out of Bowling Green.
