2019 ZR1 tires

I'll be replacing my tires soon. The Mich sport cups that came with it are more for track than for street. Anyone know a good to best tire for spirited street use? I do not track my car. Thanks

^^
Why not get the standard Michelin that comes with the Grand Sport and Z06- same sizes as the ZR1? Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP. More tread and longer life than the Cup tire. GM and Michelin spent a lot of time and money developing the tire to match the C7. Beat Goodyear who had the Vette business for years.

Next best to the Cup tire for traction.

Remember that only the high wing ZTK optioned ZR1 comes with Cup 2 tires. The low wing ZR1 comes from factory with Pilot Super Sports. (All run flats). Before taking delivery of my high wing car, I had the dealer swap out the the Cup 2 tires for Pilot SS and sold the New Cup 2’s to a Forum member. For some that might believe that putting the Pilot SS on a high wing car might pose a danger or create a problem, I would mention that at Ron Fellows owner ZR1 school (Spring Mountain) last week, they had our high wing cars equipped with PILOT SS’s the first day and Cup 2’s the second day. Former Indy driver Richie Hearn, one of our instructors, said the Cup 2’s on a high wing ZR1 in his hands were worth about 2 seconds on the 2.2 mile track compared to the Super Sports.

I replaced the wheels and tires with Forgeline wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sports NON run flats, great in wet or dry

very nice... like you, I prefer non run flats and have them on two other cars. I did go with PSS run flats on the ZR1 to get the 335/25/20’s rear size. ALSO ..I heard that the suspension on the ZR1 was tuned for the stiffer sidewall on the run flat.. ideally we get the Pilot sport 4 soon (4th gen) in our size. Did you go with 325/25/20 rears to get the non run flats?

If just fair weather driving then Pilot Super Sports.

If driving in any weather, how about michelin pilot sport A/S3+? They are listed on tirerack.com.

Hmm, not sure - Faux CF??? :confused2: Now if real CF wheels that's another story!
I like the matt silver forged wheels.

Been thinking about what color for the Yellow C8 currently my "selection!"

Seems to me wheel colors go in fads. My last 3 Vettes have had 3 different finishes/colors. It also makes a difference on the car color. Had a Red and "Ruby Red" Vette prior to my Yellow C6. Went with Red again for my 2014 and now White (1st White car every in 60 years of driving.)

The Polished Aluminum wheels on my '88 and '93 were fine. Thought Black wheels looked good on my Red 2014 with real CF roof, side skirts, splitter, hood vent and real CF cover for the chrome grill bar (boy one you start with real CF hard to stop and gets expensive!) But black "grows old" IMO so Machined Faced Aluminum was my choice for the current White Grand Sport. Love it.

I like the Gray on the Yellow C6. But oh what to get for the Yellow C8, if it stays Yellow till it's time to buy!

Dilemma, dilemma! :jester

Yes 325 and they are wider according to Michelin because of the softer sidewall compared to the 335. Been taking the run flats off since they showed up on the C5. Just a better ride for the street the without the runflats

I am watching the A/S reviews, no plans to drive in snow etc. Can still get in trouble with the PSS so these may be a better alternative

thanks for your input... next time around I’ll most likely go non runflat too. Hopefully we’ll be getting the S4’s in our size by then. I have those now on my Audi RS5 (275/30/20’s all around) and really like them. That car came with Pirelli PZeros which were good, but the Michellins are better IMO.

Had the Pirelli's on the tts, after it was "upgraded" I couldn't get traction even on 90 degree days trying to launch the car, switched to pilot super sports when the carbon fiber Forgeline wheels came, the difference was night and day

Repo Pilot (Kevin) has a brand new set of standard Michelin tires that came oh his ZTK car that have no miles...he had them changed out before delivery. You can contact him via private message or if leave your phone number with me via private message I will have him call you. Good luck sir.

These wheels are the perfect color for any body color c7. are they the same offset as stock for the c7z/zr?

Yep, you have the same rear tire size,(335/25/20) and wheel width as my Grand Sport and the Z06 that come with Pilot Super Sports. $518 each at Tire Rack. They show a Continental option @ $407 each.

For about 2 or maybe 3 laps... then the Cup 2’s start to deteriorate quite quickly and become greasier and less effective. Pushed to their max the Cup 2’s are only “great” for a few hero laps... whereas the Super Sports will give a more consistent performance lap after lap and last quite a bit longer.

I love my Cup 2’s but only on the track, in dry weather. In wet, damp or cool weather conditions I run my street Super Sports at the track.

Also, for a non professional driver, the Super Sports are easier to “feel” that sweet spot, before the tires over reach their grip... more forgiving. The Cups have great adhesion but when you reach their limit it gives you less warning.
