Which would you pick
If you had a choice between Fantom Works restoring your car or The Guild, which would you choose?
|
Neither. Both shops seem disorganized and unfocused.
|
The Guild. Did you see that 1935 Bugatti they built from scratch? Unreal. Not impressed with Fantomworks, although I liked the show. $18,000 C1 interiors and cars overheating and 'boiling over' at 180 degrees (22 degrees under the actual atmospheric boiling temp of water) are not for me.
|
The Guild. I wouldn't let FantomWorks change the oil in my lawn mower.

To me "restore" means exactly that. Return it to its AS BUILT original configuration to NCRS Top Flight, Duntov, and/or Bloomington Gold standards. Not to a 3,2,1 slam on the brakes to flat spot the tires level There are better places: Nabor Bros., Kevin MacCay, or Bob "Stretch" Zimmerman. These are three that I know and would trust. |
Don’t know Guild but agree I wouldn’t let phantom world wash my car. Ed |
Its my understanding that Fantomworks is airing its last episode this season - or I at least saw something to that effect...

If you have your restoration done at Fantomworks you will need to budget for two sets of tires. The first set will be flat-spotted by the "brake test". At least the owner of The Guild has got that kickass head of hair to distract you.

Let’s see. A guy with a dyed possum sitting on his head or a guy running a shop with possums working as restoration craftsmen. I’m going with the guy with the dyed possum on his head. |
I would choose Martin Brothers Customs from Iron Resurrection or Dave Kindig @ Kindigit Design.
|
I know nothing about Guild but I wouldn't let FatomWorks look at my car much less touch it.
:flag: |
I liked Fantomworks a lot better than the west coast shows and the guy in St Louis I think it is and way more than Graveyard cars and the bozos in Dallas. Those of you that don't like it will be happy to know that wasn't the final show of the season, it was the final show! |

Amanda is the reason I watch that show. That and the minimum of manufactured drama.
Heather is a close second on Garage Squad. I still don't believe her real age. Odd end of season Fantomworks episode where the guy absolutely has to have a no-budget big block '67, then makes up a story not to take it. Weird. |
Once hearing about “Shaggleing” was too much for me. |
I guess it really depends on your budget and the direction you want the project to take.
If I were looking regardless of the budget I would be looking at other possibilities. |
I guess the guy saw that the "original 427-435 Block" they put in the car was two bolt main motor. watch the re-runs the camera just catches the single pipe plug in the side of the block above the oil filter housing..

Neither. I restore cars for customers, so I have no need for a Hollywood trained drama queen to work on my own cars. |

That would be a great choice. They know how to repair your fender after they crack it laying on it while installing the engine! |
